Hello y'all,

Are there any layouts worth visiting in or near central VA(I live in Goochland)? I have been to many of the railroad museums in VA, but I have not seen many private layouts. I don't mind driving a few hours to see one. It can be any scale, as long as the realism is their.

Regards,

Greg

Hi Greg,

I can't help you with the private layouts, but I want to let you know of a couple train events this year.

The Science Museum in Richmond IS having their annual Train event this November.  Lots of operating layouts.  I will be there with the River City 3 Railers.

Also, our club will be set-up at the Great Big Green House in Richmond November 20 - December 31.

The Rappahannock Model Railroaders in Fredericksburg has a nice club layout, perhaps if the COVID stuff cools off you can take a drive up here and I can show you (Doug Boomer0622 above has been a member).  The club also has a couple layouts (modular and tabletop) that we set up for events, but again COVID has pretty much caused us to cancel all activities for the time being.

My home layout (recent video link here) is fairly modest (Spotsylvania County) and not "high scale" but at some point again post-COVID you'd like to visit it'd be nice.
