I've suddenly gotten a number of these from different people, all with "correct" looking addresses.  However, when you look at the expanded header info, they're coming from a totally different email server.

Obviously, this is not genuine, just wondering if I'm the only one that's getting these.  For privacy, I blanked out the person's personal email.  I've gotten three of these exactly the same, only filled in with different members addresses and names.

Short answer, this happens all the time from a variety of different friend groups of mine.  Usual come-on is something like "Did you see this..." or "Do you know what so-and-so is doing..." with the dangerous link included.  After reading the line, if it doesn't seem like something they normally send, just delete it and move on.

Unfortunately, my brother-in-law likes to use lines like that to send me funny stuff.  Then, I have to hold my breath and click.  That's when I'm glad I regularly back-up my data, update my anti-virus and firewall, and have an updated operating system.

Yes.  Checked with the sender that was listed in the from address using a different email, and he stated he did not send it.

In the case of the two I got, the from address was valid and the same as the real address.  It was not until I expanded the headers to view more detail that I could see that it was from a totally different email server.  It's very easy to make the normally visible header fields all look correct, you need to look closer.  When I check the from and reply to actual contents, they are Alex's real email address.  However, some of the other fields that you can expand and view make it obvious this is probably a bogus email.

The crooks are pretty devious.
