I've been digging through a collection I purchased and I came upon this 4-piece streetcar or interurban body kit. It appears to be an aluminum casting. Two questions:
1. What is the prototype?
2. Any idea who made these pieces?
Thanks!

No idea.

Grwynza made several aluminum cast trolley body kits that were assembled very similarly to what's in your photo. Probably one of his.....several of the Pittsburgh & Butler cars have been sold recently.
Not sure of the maker, but I think that's a Cleveland prototype...

Right, it is from Cleveland...and was originally made by a firm named "R & T Co." I believe they also made a PCC.
R&T! Yes, that rings a bell. Yeah, that would be an R&T Cleveland car.
Ok, I thought the R&T kits were white metal, not aluminum
No, aluminum. Makes soldering a bit more practical.
One of those Cleveland 1000s was my first true O scale trolley, it rode on Wagner Brill 27G trucks.
Speaking of the R&T PCC, here is an unpainted, assembled one:
A painted one for Cincinnati:
And a painted, lengthened (count the windows behind the center doors) one for Detroit:
As far as I can tell from the examination of many of these, there were two different versions; one with the split-sash windows and one without. Almost all of the ones without show no sign of filing or other evidence of the split-sash being removed.
EDIT: The R&T cars are 1/4 inch scale, the Grzwyna(sp?) cars are 17/64 inch scale, here is their Red Arrow St. Louis Car Co. streamliner:
You folks are a wealth of information, thank you.

That had to have been taken at a museum somewhere, note the CA&E or CNS&M interurban behind the trolley.

Upon further thought (and looking at the photo credited to the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper), I am thinking that it was taken at the now gone Trolleyville, USA in Olmsted Twp., OH that served a trailer park.
Yes that is Trolleyville. I went there as a boy.

Do we have any idea as to the approximate year these castings were produced?
Thanks!
