I ordered the Dash 8 and Phase V liveries. I missed out on previous Genesis runs so I’m excited. I will say it was difficult to choose, those anniversary schemes are all nice.

I ordered the Horizon cars because I already have Amfleet cars in a couple different liveries.

Dash 8 Pepsi can for me, as well!  I was lucky to get a P32-8BWH from the last run, and this will make a nice pair.

Luckily I have a wonderful Phase V from the last MTH run, and I love it!  I updated the sounds to the Empire Service sounds which have some nice station stops, including my home city, Utica!  I ordered them in 2-rail to get the fixed pilots, as Atlas has mentioned they will not be available separately, and I'll convert the wheels over when they come in.

Still wish Atlas would do another Empire Service 700-series scheme... maybe next run.

As an aside, I also ordered a pair of the F40PHs in Phase III, as those are hard to find!  I only have one from the last run.

Thanks!

I am for fixed pilots and long handrails. I spoke with Atlas and was told the pickup rollers were not to be included. I always buy the MTH 2 rail models if available. This time I backed away. Maybe that was a mistake. I was thinking I could fix the pilot with a spacer  and a kadee if I had to. I was wondering if the laders that are attached to the trucks will be attached to the underside of the body on a 2 rail model.

Uh oh...  This may put a damper on my plan, as I don't really need any of these units.

So long as the trucks are 3-2 as advertised, pickups can be bought from a parts department somewhere.
I’m not completely deterred by this but it’s a dumb move by atlas to do that and not at least offer them after the fact.  People buy the 2 rail models for 3RS.
Worst case, I’ve got a few PS1 genesis kicking around and can swap trucks if I have to.

I ordered the Honoring Employees Midnight Blue, as well as a standard Phase V.

I was able to find the Phase IV and Saluting Veteran's Unit from the last run but the standard Phase Vs remain elusive.

I swear they only last on eBay for hours at a time. In December I found a Phase V dummy in my sold auctions search. It was only on the site for TWO HOURS!

Last week someone bought #180 for over $700.
I guess the buyer isn't a member of this forum

Hey, @Aem7s4lyfe!

Nice tag line!  Perhaps Atlas could reissue their AEM-7!  They're colors were perfect...

MTH's aren't half bad, either. (Thanks again, @gunrunnerjohn!)

Now back to your regularly scheduled P42's!

Thanks!

Hey @CentralFan1976, Thank you for noticing lol.  The AEM-7'S are my favorite locomotive.  I just picked up my 3rd MTH version.  All of my AEM-7's are in the phase V paint scheme.  I would hope Atlas would that, I would finally get the phase 3 and phase 4 versions.  I missed my chance with MTH and I refuse to buy them from ebay because of the ridiculous prices lol.

Now for the P42's, this will be my second engine.  I currently have engine #99 from MTH's previous run in phase v.  I absolutely love that engine.  I wonder what routes Atlas will be featuring on those locomotives.  I'm hoping for the Empire Service routes.

You /recently/ found Phase V AEM-7s? The MTH inventory search page truly is down, correct? Am I crazy? Where is everybody finding late MTH models?

@CharmCityAirLine  I found the Phase V AEM-7 at my favorite train store (Nicholas Smith Trains) last year in June 2021.  I went back and forth about getting my 3rd one, but when Mike announced that MTH will be closing, I went ahead and picked it up in December 2021 after having it on layaway.  It was the last one that they had.

I'll see if I can grab a video next time around at the Club...  The Empire Service sounds are superb.  I love this engine!

It all got started in 2020, when the weather was fantastic every day and my daughter and I went to see trains every night!  She got hooked, on Amtrak, especially dusk when 49 came through the Mohawk valley... So I sold a pair of Legacy E7s and bought her a 6-car set of Phase IVb MTH plated Amfleets and a Genesis  at @JR Junction Train & Hobby.

Thanks!

It was you! LOL
Earlier this month, I went to the Nicholas Smith site thinking that's the only place I saw one left and I noticed they were finally sold out. That's how I ended up grabbing the capstone cars. I hope all this continues to show the manufacturers we have lots of interest in modern Amtrak stuff. I refuse to model in HO

I'm glad to see it went to an AEM-7 fanatic!

Excellent choice on the Capstone cars.  I use my Phase V AEM-7 to pull these beauties...

She's a gorgeous unit. Don't let the superman colors dissuade anyone, in person its very nice.  I waited three days to get her on the point of The Lake Shore.

Thanks!

@CharmCityAirLine LOL yes it was me. Nicholas Smith had quite a few of them for a while.  I guess when MTH was closing people started buying them, I took that as my sign to get the last one lol.  I purchased the capstone cars as well.  They are absolute beauties.  I completely agree with you on the modern Amtrak stuff.  I see that Lionel is bring the amfleets back, however in my opinion, the MTH versions are better looking.  I hope they can make the ACS-64 in O scale (fingers crossed) I will definitely purchase at least 2 of those units.  The AEM-7 is my favorite electric locomotive.  When I was in elementary school, my 4th grade classroom faced the Northeast Corridor in Philadelphia.  I had a clear view of the corridor and would watch the AEM-7 fly pass along with SEPTA, NJ Transit and freight trains.

That's similar to what happened to me. I'm from Baltimore but I studied at Drexel University back at the turn of the century. My dorm window faced the Penn Coach Yard. In fact, the Coach Yard's powerhouse chimney is known to us as the Drexel Shaft. Later on, I went to UPenn while I worked in Quantico, VA -so I spent a lot of time at 30th Street Station.
I try to keep my era as Amtrak 1995 - 2010.

@CentralFan1976 That's my new favorite set! We can officially offer business class seating!

Nice!! Glad to know someone else had the same experience as me with education and trains.  As for my era, I'd like to think that I'm more 2000 - current.  I have the phase IV amfleets, the capstones, and the p42 and AEM-7 all in phase V.  Hopefully when me and my partner purchase our 1st home, I would want trainworx to build a model of 30th station for my layout.  My current layout has all Northeast Corridor trains on it along with the transit agencies that connects to the corridor.  That is the theme of my layout.

I'm a "freight" guy ... I hate passenger trains. Or, so I thought. I never noticed how cool this stuff is! The engines and cars. Got me thinking.         Love to see/hear more of your equipment.

Your photo ... is that you at Nicholas Smith? You work there sometimes? If so, VERY cool.

I live in northwestern NJ, but still get down there occasionally. What a great place. (Grabbing a cheesesteak at Thunderbird is just icing on the cake)

@CNJ Jim  Yes that is me at Nicholas Smith.  Ironically that picture was taken almost 10 years ago when I got my first AEM-7 locomotive lol.  No I don't work there, I'm just there a lot lol.  It is my favorite place to visit.  I'm 40 mins from there according to google, but my challenger will get me there in 30 lol.

Placed pre-orders for the midnight blue (#100) and 50th Phase VI (#108) versions. I already have a pair of regular Phase V units from a previous run, dedicated to Auto-Train service. I already have so many Amfleets and Superliners that I'd have to consult my inventory to know how many

I also ordered #100 and #108.  I sold my new old stock MTH 40th anniversary #145 Phase III and #156 Phase I units on EBay to make enough profit to pay for them.

I still have the 40th anniversary Phase II #66 and #42 Veterans units that I have ran.
