I believe these cars are made from the Weaver tooling Lionel purchased...

I don't believe so.  I've been waiting decades for fairly decent Reading coaches like these.  Weaver made the Osgood-Bradley coaches, they were easily distinguishable from these.  I don't think Bob Weaver ever marketed the Bethlehem Shipbuilding manufactured cars which were so prominent on the Reading and CNJ for years.  They need some real work to make them into acceptable 2R scale models, but are a good starting point.

The Lionel cars are definitely not the Weaver Pullman-Bradley coaches. I have both. The Weaver cars are longer and are differently styled although both have "rounded" roofs. Lionel's cars are correct to the Reading prototype.  SGL made the "modernized"  version of these cars in brass and they match up nicely. Since New Hope uses the former Reading coaches, they are also correct. For what it is worth, I run both on O-42 curves but the Lionel cars look better. less overhang.
