1. Atlas PS4427's and 50' 3 bay centerflows are here.  Will start shipping on Sat.

2. Just arrived at MTH are 40' double sheathed box cars (including our special runs of Strasburg, Rutland, and NWP), and FM H10-44 switchers, including our special runs of SP and CNW.

I hoping at starting end of April or so, I'll be able to offer the MTH single sheathed and double sheathed box cars in 2 rail.   I'll keeo everyone posted.   Ive also asked MTH to supply us with unlettered skeleton log cars in 2 rail.  We'll see how it goes.

Also, Also...Im going to see if i can get MTH to do some diesel switch engines in 2 rail.    Things have settled down to the point where they might be able to handle it.  The biggest problem is re-working the pilots to be fixed.

We are surviving the storms.  just takes time to clean out the steam of debris and silt, and to fix up our long. dirt driveway.

thx

Me too!     I hated when the SW-1 tooling went to Lionel.  They have no intention of doing anything in 2 rail at this time.   Atlas considered doing the S-2 in 2 rail, but the retooling was more extensive/expensive than they wanted to do at this point.   Not to mention that the S-2 would be have been vertical shaft motors, which some 2 railers would whine about.   The demand for a 2 rail switcher is pretty large, but getting it done is another thing.  And the  what RR's?  everyone wants something different.

Beth,

No shop work required for the 3/2 trucks.  Remove the pickup rollers, take the bottom cover off the truck, remove the 3-rail wheelsets, and install the MTH 2-rail wheelsets.  Place 3/2 switch in "2" and go.  Like the MTH GP7/9, MTH did not, to my knowledge, make fixed pilots for the S2.

MTH did not make a premier line SW1, so they did not have the 3/2 trucks.  However, Northwest Shortline still makes 2-rail wheelsets for the Lionel S2.  The Lionel S2 trucks actually have removable wheelsets, so the conversion is easier than for solid block trucks but still requires fabrication of 2-rail electrical pickups.  I have not seen the Lionel SW1 trucks, but I'm hoping they used the trucks from the S2 so that the Northwest Shortline wheelsets could be used.

Any word on MTH 2-rail steam?

I would like to see MTH Premier 3-rail steam - smaller engines - 0-4-0, USRA 0-8-0, Atlantic 4-4-0, Ten Wheeler 4-6-0, Consolidation 2-8-0 - Northeastern roads - New Haven, Boston & Maine, Boston & Albany, Rutland, Central New England, New York Central. The 0-6-0 is not on my list because apparently it was sold to Lionel.

Seems like a business opportunity.....for a $## fee, we will convert these 3 rail locos to 2 rail....

Hi Beth, I think I may have missed your announcement on the SP FM switchers, do you have any that aren't spoken for and what would the cost be, any pictures?  Are they in the Red and Gray paint scheme and are they TMCC I hope?

Hi @J. Motts here is the link to the SP FM switcher. It is by railking so it will have proto 3. You can see the price on the webpage.

Thx for posting the link.  The artwork shown is a little off on color.  It will be the usual SP darker gray.  The artwork is lighter than it will actually be. I'll try to post a better pic on the website.

MTH is the only company that ever did an H10-44 in O gauge, hence it is MTH with Proto 3.  It is Railking Scale, which is good cause it enables us to offer a full scale size switcher with sound and smoke for under $ 400.  Lionel and Atlas switchers are now in the 550 $ range.

Hi @J. Motts

Atlas purchased a select number of MTH's O Scale Premier line of tooling several years ago when Mike Wolf announced his plans to retire.  The list of models that Atlas purchased the tooling for, which includes both rolling stock and locomotives, can be found in the link below.  Any former MTH products using the former MTH tooling purchased by Atlas will be produced by Atlas and sold under the Atlas brand.  MTH continues to exist as an independent model manufacture as several of the long-time employees have purchased the remainder of the company's O scale tooling (Scale Trains purchased the former MTH HO and S Scale Tooling).  MTH will continue to produce models with the retained MTH tooling as well as develop new tooling for new future models.  All models produced by remaining MTH-owned tooling will all be produced by MTH and branded as MTH.  Therefore, MTH will produce the H10-44 model under the MTH brand as the H10-44 was not listed in the Atlas tooling purchase list shown below.

For the 2-Railers, it appears that Atlas has intentions to offer some of the former MTH Premier Line models in 2-Rail in the future as tooling modifications seem to be underway on select models.  For example, Atlas had an Amtrak P42 Genesis passenger diesel (former MTH O scale Premier Line model included in the Atlas tooling acquisition) on display at the recent Springfield, MA model train show with pre-production fixed pilots and 2-Rail wheels.
