Article in either Lionel Magazine or Model Builder - build your own PRR O-1 electric?

Model builder 1938 I think mar/april & may/june.  I'm the one who posted a reference a while back but i have not been able to find my mag.  I will dig for it some more ad i'd like to find it as well.

Dennis - you are ALL right! the Train Life site has the magazine scanned in. First article called 'Old #10 Rebuilt'. Pretty sure it was the inspiration for the loco I bought.

Hmmm. Now I am thinking about attempting something similar in O with the 248 as a starting point. 

I was watching this on ebay, but the bidding got out of hand... Once upon a time, it was a Lionel 253 electric, but it has been stretched a bit.  And as luck would have it, I picked up a 253 shell and hacked frame  and I can't think of anything better to do with it than making one of these.

Just for fun Jim, I found this old picture of a standard gauge bash I saw long ago and thought was interesting in some way... Not sure if it was supposed to be a GG1 or a P5A mod.

Thanks Dennis - the wood screw in the nose really makes the model! Really cool homey train - Wonder if Clem saw this one. A friend sent this photo from the DeSantis collection . I think it may be the actual engine in the article - take a close look.

It very well could be the source. I love it either way!  it's a perfect use for a spare super motor!  My list is long, but this is on it somewhere... I need to formalize that list and focus on getting some stuff done....

I'm with you Dennis. Lots of projects stacked up, need to pick a couple and finish before starting more new ones

i have a guy making me a PRR K4/L1 boiler in STD. Will be scale proportioned but have to consider the scale in order to look right with drive wheels that are available
