I love these cars, don't get me wrong. I have lost, probably 6 (?) of the couplers, now. They go without warning and all of a sudden, & the train is shorter. I said I was going to convert all of them to KDs. I never got around to it yet.

If you run long trains, be aware of that failure possibility. The stock couplers also don't like being shoved backwards, I believe. Maybe that's why I lost so many.

I feel your pain. I bought a few 2-rail Atlas cars and lost couplers to zinc pest. If you use the plastic Kadee boxes, you can squeeze them onto the Atlas mounts without re-drilling, but the end of the box sticks out of the end sill a bit. If I get off the dime and buy a drill/tap set maybe I'll fix a couple of the cars I've done.
