I have 9 of the new passenger cars in 3 rail. The club layout has two curves that are just a little to sharp (all gargraves flex track) that pinch the atlas trucks and make the trucks arch up off the track and derail. I have tried to slide the couplers out farther to see if it would stop the arching but no luck. I also have 3 kline 21" cars that do not have the same level of detail around the trucks that the atlas cars have and have no problems with the curves.

I sent a email off to atlas to see if I could just replace the wheel sets from 3 rail to 2 rail and just use the battery boxes to power the lights inside the cars and run them on the 2 rail track.

Has anyone tried this, does anyone have a 2 rail car that wants it to be 3 rail....?

I had a set of Atlas 21 inch passenger cars and I ran them on Gargraves 042 curves with an SD-45 engine. If I used a smaller size engine like a GP-38 the passenger cars derailed entering the curve, so a larger size engine helps with the curves as well, it was something about coupler swing and curves.
