MTH offered the GP40’s in both 2-rail & 3. This is only being offered in 3-rail so I think it’s pretty obvious that Atlas is eschewing Premier 2-rail offerings. How long before Atlas dumps Trainman & Master 2-rail motive power…?

The lack of 2R versions of the former MTH tooling by both Atlas and Lionel has me wondering about the future of new 2R products.

Hopefully, the Atlas GP7's will get here by the end of the year.    IDK how many years ive been saying that, but hope spring eternal.

Other than Sunset, and the aftermarket, I dont see any more 2 rail engines coming out for a while.  Maybe in a year or 2 will have some announcements.  Thats what I see.

I have about 75   2 rail diesels, and maybe a half dozen steamers in stock.  I have to "restock" the website.

IDK if the MTH models riding high on their trucks can be simply fixed or not.  Probably not.    With all due respect...I like things to be as correct as possible, but one of the problems with selling to some 2 railers is that they can be very picky.   I know many of u would rather spend 700. on something that u feel is perfect, than 500 on something that rides high on its trucks, or has vertical drive rather than horizontal.    Unfortunately, that leaves u in the Sunset and more expensive market, and not where I am.   I have to work with whats available in MTH/Atlas tooling today.  No one is putting money into re-tooling engines right now.

I'm not sure how fixable it could be. It would interest me if they are corrected. I am partial to GGD, Sunset, Atlas and Lionel, but I will admit I am a picky 3 railer. I get too some retail price points do not leave everything as a plausible option for accuracy and detail. Was hopeful for the fix because anything Atlas designs themselves or puts their hands on typically turns out exceptionally well.
