To anyone who recently purchased this new released accessory Atlas 0 66903 Elektra theatre

I attached a file for reference

There is a modulating higher frequency pitched noise coming out of accessory when turned on

Question has anyone else who recently got this accessory have any noise coming from it? Or if you can listen to the attached file anything similar to this?

Its not loud enough to be heard when operating trains but when I shut down it can be heard in the background

if you listen ensure speakers are up. As it’s not loud And at a higher frequency

Thank you in advance

I have the earlier released Atlas Palace Theater and that also has the high-pitch screechy noise that is heard when the room is generally quiet.  I think this same noise comes from various Miller Engineering luminous motion signs; the pitch/frequency changes when the light patterns changes.  IIRC has something to do w/ the light unit control board.  Not sure if Miller Engineering also produces these animated signs for Atlas-O.

Sounds pretty normal/typical, everything from Miller does it as Keystone mentioned,

This one might be a bit on the louder end, but its a bigger accessory. Even the backlight on Lionels Legacy remote makes a whine. It seems worse when you focus on it. run your trains and forget about it.

At this point, I'd be more worried if I couldn't hear it, indicating a more serious non train related problem LOL!

That would be the high frequency power supply that steps up the voltage for the electroluminescent display.  Depending on the design the frequency may be in the audible range.  The modulation is probably due to varying load as the display changes.

This is similar to the squeal from the scan frequency in old TVs.  Some can hear it, some can't.  Once you hear it you can't unhear it.

However, this seems overly loud and low in frequency to be so easily recorded.

Thanks for all of the replies as this was a first plug and play and was not sure.

It appears from the replies this is normal and not unusual and was also confirmed in conversation with Atlas.

It is a great accesssory and gets a lot of compliments especially from my family who saw it over the holidays.

Again thanks to all for your feedback

Now the important question?  What is the title of the movie you are showing?  Mine is from a National Lampoon movie "Earth Girls are Easy"
