Now that my Santa Fe F7's are securly ordered, thanks for the GREAT deal on 3-powered and 1 non powered unit from Mr Muffin's.  I am wondering if it is too soon to start my Atlas Wish list for their next catalog.  Probably not, lets face it Atlas, GGD, Lionel and MTH all need at least 12 months, often longer, to go from concept to deliverable product.  Having said that here is my list:

1.  Santa Fe freight F3's or F7's with the cigar band.  That should be easy.  They already have the mold for the F3's and F7's now just get the paint mask.

2.  How about the much discussed (see this link: https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/t...82#41271596167013182 ) Santa Fe Super Chief cars.

I would much prefer the 10-car set delivered all at once, not spread out over 6 plus years like some other named train.  BTW, now that Atlas has nailed the SS plating for the Santa Fe F7's, making the S/C with that finish should be a piece of cake.  But what do I know, I am just your average 3-rail consumer.

It is NEVER too early to start dreaming about the next catalog.

Comments as always are encouraged.

Actually you are NOT "your average 3-Rail consumer".  You are much more interested in scale accuracy, than the "average 3-Rail consumer". I also include myself in your category.

How about a Union Pacific ALCO RSC-2:

- Number boards and marker lights on top of the long hood forward

- "D.S." designated numbered D.S.1180 through D.S. 1189

Here is a link to a photo of what I am talking about:

http://www.snowcrest.net/photobob/upl19.jpg

Here is an excerpt courtesy of UtahRails.net:

"With the arrival of 10 more units (UP 1180-1189) from February to April 1948, it was an Alco RSC-2, known then simply as a "six-axle Alco," that bumped UP's Shay steam locomotives from their assigned home terminal at Tintic Junction in central Utah (Shays 59 and 61 were retired in February 1949 and September 1948, respectively)."

I could then model the transition from the MTH (20-3493-1) Shay UP #61 to the RSC-2 which falls into my 1940-1950 modelling time-frame.

Here is a link with a list of which other roads rostered the RSC-2:

http://www.thedieselshop.us/Alco_RSC2.HTML

Apart from the topside UP number boards and marker lights....Since the RSC-2's were mechanically identical to the 4 wheel trucked RS2 but had six wheel trucks......... Atlas could use the body tooling for many other roads as an RS2.

Your Thoughts?

I looked on Google and failed to find one, so one locomotive that I would like to see from Atlas O would be a Chicago & Northwestern GP7. If I had room in the budget and Atlas made these, I would get two (either 1 powered and 1 dummy or both powered).

Then again, it would be awesome to see Atlas O (as Santa Fe Jim mentioned) be able to crank out high-quality Super Chief passenger cars. Those California Zephyr cars that Atlas has released over the years look pretty awesome, and it would be fantastic to have my two incoming Atlas O 3RL Santa Fe Phase I F7A's (37C and 45C) pulling Atlas O Super Chief passenger cars.

Last but not least, I'd like to see either a Atlas O Conrail GP7 and/or GP9 or a Atlas O Burlington Northern GP7 and/or GP9. Both units would look sharp on any layout!

I am in for a Santa Fe set in F7 not F3. The pictures you guys are posting are F7's. Lionel did a Legacy F3 a few years ago and its pretty good and I have it. Santa Fe only had 2 or 3 sets of Santa Fe freight in F3. But they had a whole lot of F7's. I vote for what your picture shows Santa Fe F7's in freight scheme to go with my ordered War bonnet F7's #37.

Atlas while you are at it can you do some Cotton Belt(Black Widow) & Texas & Pacific (freight & Passenger scheme) F7's

Gents,

Two rail wants.

EMD SD45. Need I say more??

An EMD SW1 would be neat. CR, B&M, etc.. many different roads

ALCO S2/4, New England Roads

GP38 or the -2 versions

GP40 or the -2 versions

GE C30-7 Conrail, etc.

Rebuilt units;

-RS3M. These were rebuilt by PC.. CR sold them and a bunch of shortline RR's owned them.

-Would an SD26 be interesting..? Those are rebuilt SD18's if I remember right?

-CF7. Santa Fe and a host of other roads. regionals and short lines.

Railcars,

-52' Plate E Boxcars

-60'-73' Centerbeams (I am making a CN version on the 60' bulkheads)

-2 Bay Covered Hoppers

-50' Waffle Sided Boxcars

-ABOX styled boxcars

-RailGons

Many things to do.. More brick buildings for industry.

Dan

Jim,

I know I am only dreaming, but I would like to see another special run of Atlas

Master Series Steam Era (WAG) Wellsville, Addison & Galeton Box Cars made, but this time I want the original Woodside 2 tone Box Cars, with all the incredible Atlas detailing & beautiful 2 tone WAG paint job, in the 4 different real road numbers.  As long as I am dreaming, love to see Atlas Steam Era, make the original Woodside WAG logging Cabin Caboose, that goes with these Woodside Box Cars also.

You are correct, those are F7's.  The Cigar Band paint appeared on F3's 200L, 200C, 201L and 201C.

Those picturs are hard to find.  Here is one the Athearn Genesis HO version:

HO Athearn Genesis G20020 ATSF F3A Locomotive NIB DCC Ready. NICE

Yes, I know that this photo is of FT's, but a re-run on the NYC F2 with the "cat's whiskers" freight scheme would get an order, definitely.

I missed them before when I could not decide between the GM&O F3 and the NYC F2.

Missed them both.

So - this scheme, F2 (FT's would be fine, too!), again, please; checkbook is idling:

Okay guys - I am no expert on the SF but based on the orders we got I know there is a market for them..... What do you want here?..... An ABBA?.... Road numbers?..... what combination of powered and unpowered?....

I hope Jerry Kimble reads this thread and passes it on to the rest of the Atlas crew.

Steve, I would be in favor of both powered and non-powered A's & B's.  That gives the consumer all the freedom he/she needs to build their own Lashup.  Then his wallet or her purse can bark at them to based on what they spend.

I'll tell ya right now, I'm placing MY ABBA order(s) with Mr. Muffin.

I'd like to see them produce the Industrial Rails cars that were previously announced. But the purchase of the IR tooling was under Jim Weaver's leadership at Atlas, and along with the new scale offerings, he obviously wanted to grow the entire Atlas O product line.

I also think Atlas picked up the IR tooling and dies at the wrong time. When they first introduced the line under the Atlas banner, it was on the heals of all the blowouts done by HobbyCo on the previous IR stuff. So everyone was spoiled by those deep blowout prices. The Atlas list wasn't that far off from the UMD list prices. The first Atlas IR steamer also didn't do anything to build excitement or sales for the line up.

But, like the reason some of the above items may not be produced, it could well be Atlas isn't seeing the financial return on the IR cars that they hoped they would. And also not to be ignored for a cause, is the recent production turmoil Atlas has been through.

I am glad to see Atlas getting through their production woes though, and finally getting product produced.

How about F7's in Texas & Pacific! I would also be interested in Missouri Pacific and the Kansas Oklahoma & Gulf, All these F7's wore the same blue/grey scheme.

The T&P and the KO&G only owned the F7 model, the Mopac owned most of the F models. The T&P also fielded a hand full of F7's in the Eagle passenger scheme to match the more familiar T&P and MP E7s and E8s . (the MP did not have any F units in passenger scheme although they did roster F's with steam generators for passenger service. )  Dan

I am going to see if I can add these to the current production as a special run.... so I need to some help on what to order..... I could go out on a limb and do 3 or 4 different models but I can't afford to do all of the possible combinations..... so if I could talk them into a special run - what would I order? 2 powered A's and a dummy B? Or would you guys rather wait and see if Atlas does it some time in the future?...

Let me to be first to jump on this offer.  I would like ABBA Cigar Band engine number's: 200L, 200A, 200B and 200C.

Powered units: 200L, 200A and 200C

Non-Powered: 200B.

This combo would offer the BEST possible sound balance.

Thanks for your effort.  What can I do to assist?

Earlier in the day I emailed a link to this thread to Jerry Kimble.

I have also posted information on the 3RS Forum.
