@MrMuffin'sTrains just posted a Custom Run of a Nickel Plate Road Atlantic (4-4-2) #744 on the site. The engine was rostered in the clover leaf district starting in the mid to late 1920’s.

Thanks, Keith. Count me in. NKP #744 was one of only two NKP Atlantics, the other being NKP #745. Both started on the Clover Leaf (CL#44 and CL#45, respectively) and came to the NKP in the acquisition of the Clover Leaf. By the way, the locomotives looked very sharp in their CL livery, but I doubt they could ever generate enough interest for a model.
I haven’t seen the Clover Leaf livery, I’ll look it up. Do you have a good source for me to explore?
I hadn’t previously known the NKP had two Atlantics, but I read about them after Steve and I corresponded about the custom runs in a book I have called The Nickel Plate Years. Very interesting how the number scheme worked out, in later years.
The Nickel Plate Story by John Rehor is my go-to resource. There is a terrific photo of CL#45 on page 156.
Oh wow! That is a sharp livery. I can’t believe it didn’t click in my head to look at this book, it was only sitting on my desk!
Thanks for reminding me and for ordering one! We just need 38 more to get this one made!
