Copyright issues.....

TOS issues......

The move to Photo Albums (https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/...rday-mark-ii-8-24-19) , still hosted by OGR, still falls under the same TOS and copyright governance.

Yes, of course, and by making this move we (posters/responders here) are no longer breaking the TOS by posting pics of both model AND real switchers on the same thread.......Of course, I suppose the "Photo Albums" forum might not be allowed by the TOS to also too have words?

I suppose if this response disappears we can assume I am correct in this analysis

I have put model photos in the "Real Trains" forum, and 2-rail models in the 3-rail section etc.  Am I going to Guantanamo?

I 100% agree with not posting others' photos anywhere without permission, and that includes those awful repeats.  But I doubt anyone had a problem seeing an occasional photo of a real switcher here, assuming the poster had permission to do so.

My understanding is that OGR got hit with several legal settlements over this copyrighted photo issue. $$$. They can’t take any chances with the situation.

It is most unfortunate, and I truly shake my head at someone who would sue over a bunch of guys enjoying their hobby on a Saturday morning, but there you have it.

I am trying to keep the spirit of Switcher Saturday alive. The switch to the photo album forum was to better align subject matter with the forum theme.  The photo album forum works well for a mix of model and real life examples.  The Hi-Rail , O-27 and Traditional forum has become a catch all, and thus the photo album forum was suggested by Mr. Arnold as the most appropriate of the available choices within the terms of service.

In general the move and Rich Murnane stepping down from being the host of a 4 + year recurring thread, all started with the legal concerns over copyright issues of images posted on the OGR forum found through google searches.  The move was my attempt to keep a good thing going, and make one less headache for the OGR staff.

I think the participation has been pretty good given the shake up over the photos. I will try to keep it going as long as I reasonably can.

It has started out well. We need to keep promoting it on the original Forum so folks know where it went. Some of the frequent posters have not made the switch to the Mark II version on the Photo Albums Forum and I invite them to join us. We miss you guys and your input!

With a bit of caution on posting real  rr photos so no copyrighted ones are used, we can keep the thread both interesting and informative, and much like the original version of the thread.

Thanks for your good work on this!
