I was watching some video of the 611 in Virginia and wondering if any of the big O brands were on hand to record sound effects for use in future products.  Speaking of which, where does Lionel get the sound bytes for the chuff sounds in Railsounds?  Are they samples of real trains or synthesized fakes?  I noticed there is some chuff variation among the Lionchief product line.  Variety for variety's sake?

Some do use the sound of the correct engine, but I don't know which.

"Nursing insomnia one railcar at a time"
