👍Great find Lee'. I'll never understand why Revell didn't supply windows with theses models in the first place'... It's also amazing how much we'll spend to get a model to look the way we want it to ...👀😃
Lee, hope you’re feeling better. I just ordered the “glass” for my build of the tanker, and I’m taking time building it. It’s a nice kit.
@lee drennen posted:
Thank you for the information. It has been a longtime since I built any models, I was disappointed that the glass was not included. Do models no loner include the glass?
Also has anyone built this White 3000 yet? I would like to see some completed, I have not started on mine.
Okay Lee, second order placed. I've been holding of on building the gas truck due to no windows.... Now that can happen... Once I get my eyes fixed👀 that is...😃
Thanks guys for the well wishes. Yes most model includes glass these days. Here’s mine when Revell The original producers of this model had it. Atlantis bought from Revell
Great to hear you guys bought the glass I was hoping I could help. It’s easy to build on your finial part of the build leave the cab off the frame and the roof. Then put your glass in.

Paul, great looking scene and some really wonderful cars! Never heard of the beer but do like the car and story behind it!
Lee wonderful find on the windows!
I bought my first Corgi today at the goodwill that really didnt cost me anything cause I was buying a bag of cars for the grandkids to play with. It just sucks its the wrong size! LOL Maybe next time!
@lee drennen wishing you a quick a speedy recovery to full health! KNow you’ve got a great many people holding you in their thoughts!
also- nice Revell Tanker! Has me thinking of some things of my own I’d like to post but the ones below have waited too long
New additions to the on-going military presence on the layout:
Corgi Classics British Army Land Rover with Trailer. Between 1/43 and 1/50 in scale
Greenlight 1/43 United Nations Jeep Willys
Convoy escorting the Texaco Pipeline company truck to its construction zone
Comparrison of 4 Jeep Willy’s by 4 different manufacturers(from top to bottom: Cararama, Greenlight, Solido, K-Line), all stated to be 1/43, it’s nice to see consistency:
I decided to take the oversized Corgi Rolla Royce off the layout and replace it with this Elicor 1/43 Bentley T
Next, two items of the TOFC variety:
First is an Atlas Front Runner(diecast) with a Xtra Lease 45’ Pines Trailer(came as a set). from the first run by Atlas around 2001
I bought the Trailer & Front Runner mainly for the Front Runner. The Xtra Lease Trailer didn’t come with its wheelbase and my other, newer trailer’s wheelbase pops in and out of the Xtra Lease in too snug of a manner for my liking- hence it’s been relegated to sitting on these I-beams. Ordered some replacement parts
not sure if I posted this- at least not here. The C&NW trailers were $5 a piece which I thought was a steal!(yes they’re plastic, but they’re still nice lookin’). And the flat was a decent price so I bought the lot

Steve. Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts it good to know I have people here that cares. Thanks for the complement on the tanker. I built that back in 1995. Those pics look good and thanks for sharing them. Post more that’s what this thread is all about
Steve, you have some good looking stuff there! Thanks for sharing, sure opens up the idea bank! LOL
I bought 2 sets of glass for the White 3000 Atlantis gas truck like Ted so we’ll see what happens.

Ahh! That’s right you mentioned that to me before. I know quite a few people that have had that done and they say it’s a breeze. You’ll be back at it very shortly thereafter. PRR that sure is a sharp looking Mack Truck! I bet its going to look great on your layout!
I agree with mike one sharp looking Granite
Just finished this fuel tanker. The trailer is from the new Atlantis release and the tractor is an older Revell release of the missile carrier found on the “e” auction site. I made my own decals to match a fuel dealer on my friend’s layout. Pretty standard build, but I did shorten the tractor by 4 scale feet; I think it looks better.

Yep! I picked up a second White 3000 kit tonight from Hobby Lobby (40% off boxed model kits this week) and am going to combine two kits to make a tandem axle coal dump truck.
No doubt there is a glaring hole in O scale waiting to be filled with 1/48 scaled vehicles!
Rick. You bet I’ll post some soon that I’ve been working on. The 3000 coal truck sounds interesting Yes I agree there a big hole for trucks in 1/48 scale
Tom thanks for sharing the White Pass Pete’s look great
Well here is my latest restomod. A corgi Toronado. Came in a blue color, not in too bad of shape, but I still wanted to do a full restoration. There was a big blemish on the passenger door, and the pop up headlights were chrome, which I never really liked so I painted them body color. Something new I tried, painted the turbine style wheels body color as well, then followed up with silver. I think it makes the wheels really POP. Here’s the before and after. You can see the wheels the best in the last photo.
Hope you like it, was not as much work as the Ambulance, but it turned out pretty sharp.

Nice job JD. The Tornado and the Riviera were two of my favorite Corgis. The Riviera, if I recall correctly, had the light-pipe headlights; good fun on a sunny day or under your desk lamp.

Yes PD you are right on the trans-o-light headlights on the Riv. I have one of those as well. The tail lights also glow. They really had e ngineers designing their product. I love all the little gimmicks they came up with. Toys with some really good play value.
JD. Outstanding job on the Toronado. Thanks for sharing

Here’s an update on my 1960s coal hauler...I spliced a second rear axel/frame/spring pack to this White 3000. A pair of new fuel tanks and a scratch built coal dump bed round out the major surgery. Rick. Looks good I noticed that top doesn’t fit quite as good as the older Revells do because the molds are wore. And on the right side of the roof is a very bad mold Mark that is from the tab. To make this a fit better remove the tabs and fill in the bad mold line I noticed this right away on mine. Your bed looks really good and I like the Poseable wheels
Rick, your truck build looks awesome so far. Looking forward to seeing the final product. The creativity of some of the guys on the forum amazes me.

Coach Joe...I'm glad you like my Northport sweet shop, we used to visit it often. As for Dugan's I'm surprised you didn't see it in the Bronx. I grew up in Bellerose, Queens and Dugan's Bakery was in Queens Village. They also had a distribution center in East Northport LI and New Jersey. My Mother worked for Dugan's in the late 1920's and early 1930's. Their competition was Krug's Bakery with home delivery too. They had comic books they gave to the kids and sometimes we got a cookie from a broken box. Maybe home delivery was not possible in the high rise apartment buildings in the Bronx????? Their Bakery Goods were like Entermann's.

fl9turbo2. I like that Barber Green Asphalt paver and the bridge pic.Been in front of many of those pavers I was a dump trucker in my younger days waiting to turn 21 so I could drive over the road. Been driving now for 30yrs.
Great stuff guys! I had 2 posts complimenting @fl9turbo2 on his police sub and construction vehicles and @lee drennen on his piggybacks(about which I have some questions!) but I wanna get this post in quick.
I’ve been wanting to post these for almost 2 weeks- starting with some big rigs!
Actually, funny one first. Was digging thru storage one night and found this undersized Lionel Dunkin Doughnuts tractor trailer. Apparently got it as a kid
K-line UP trailer with APL tractor and chassis. Very nice piece, imo. Love the logo and chassis and can look great too
I’ve been wanting a chassis for my 40’ k-line containers so I got this guy too mainly for the tractor and chassis.
Posted the Scania 143m can awhile ago- here’s the tanker it goes withfrom the “esso collection”. Unfortunately, haven’t been able to find what scale these were
Thought i’d add some comparison shots of different tractors /cabs for people’s reference. From left to right: Scania 143m, K-line Reading Transport Heavy Hauler, K-line NYC cab, APL cab, and a tootsietoy kenworth that I use with the silver chassis. All cabs compatible with all trailers in the next picture
Comparinf different trailers: L to R- Esso tanker, K-line Heavy Hauler(about 38’ in scale), K-line worldwide intermodal 40’ trailer/containers, atlas 45’ pines trailer.
Was able to move the Sealand trailer off the flat it was on and put it on the K-line silver chassis.
More to come(hopefully tonight) if some new cars I got this weekend. Got some great deals on all of them. Here’s a teaser picture- 1/43 Scale 1958 Buick convertible by Vitesse!

Beautiful work from both of you. Thanks
I had a left over trailer from the Revell missle carrier kit. Since I’m on a truck building kick, I decided to see if I could kitbash the flatbed into a decent Freuhauf stainless steel ribbed box trailer for a piggyback load. Since this trailer is actually re-tooled from a box trailer following damage to the molds, I think this will be pretty straightforward!
The sides are Evergreen styrene “metal siding”. The door end is a bunch of styrene shapes. I’m still working on the nose. It is a little tricky as I have to bend the siding against the ribs...carefully using a little heat and a bunch of clamps. The jury is still out on this!
Here is an in progress mock up shot.

Lee, you've got the makings of nice rig right there...
I finally have a contribution for this thread.I picked this Corgi Heavy Hauler up from Trainz for a song, $45. It's the second one I have and third I've bought overal. I bought one for my Dad when they first came out and just had to have one for myself. I paid like $175 for each at that time so I couldn't leave this one for such a great price. For those unfamiliar with the livery, the red, white and green of Gerosa was all over NYC through the 90s. They were THE heavy haul, crane and rigging company in NYC for some time, even hauling transformers to Con Edison's nuclear power plant at Indian Point. My dad worked for another branch of the Gerosa family over at Metropolitan Roofing Supply. He was a truck driver and warhouseman. On a number of occasions Dad was pressed into service over at "The Haulage" to wrangle some of the trucks around the narrow streets even their Mack M-75. Even though Gerosa's fleet of heavy haul trucks was Autocar and Mack, and Whites hauled the support trailers and flatbeds, this Diamond T will fit the bill for me.
There is a photo on the internet of two Gerosa Autocars moving LIRR 4-6-0 35 and tender to Salisbury (now Eisenhower) Park after the railroad donated 35 to the county at the end of steam ops. Now that I have twon of these beasts I may try to recreate that photo on my layout. If I ever get it built.

Wow Coach Joe, what a rig! Today, I have something far less extensive, but I thought you all might like to check it out anyway. This guy is a survivor from the 1960's -1970 ish time period, and I picked him up for $3 at a local garage sale. He is all steel except the cab "glass", the wheel rims, and headlight lenses plus rubber tires. Everything else is solid steel including the tailgate embossed (correctly) with "JEEP". He is a Gladiator / J-10 pick up which in real life stayed in production from 1963-1987 however in about 1970-71 it was updated and it lost the "jeep" like front end and the cab got a lot more rounded off. This vehicle gave up its historical name "Gladiator" to the modern version in about 2005. I would date this prototype from about 1963-1970 and that is likely the same period for the toy. Tonka, despite the foreign sounding name is a US company, founded in Minnesota in 1945 and the word is actually derived from a native American word meaning "big".
Here is the classic "Jeep" vertical grill type front end that the actual J-10 lost in about 1971.
The classic "JEEP" embossed tailgate.
Like most "Tonka Trucks" this guy is a classic, all steel, tough push toy. No fancy friction motors or gimmicks. His longevity attests to the fact that these toys were built to withstand heavy play.
Anyway, not particularly scale or valuable but what "boy" (even at 77 years old) can resist a $3 truck to play with !

Earlier I said: “I’m still working on the nose. It is a little tricky as I have to bend the siding against the ribs...carefully using a little heat and a bunch of clamps. The jury is still out on this!”
Well, here is my 3rd attempt to form the compound curve for the nose of my Freuhauf. A dip in boiling water seems to have worked. The piece is now being glued to a series or forms so it will be solid in shape.

I have reached a level that I’m willing to call good enough. I think once detailed and painted this will be a fairly good representation of a Freuhauf van. I’ll letter it for my freelanced railroad’s piggyback service.
Hopefully the next shot will be of a finished model!
Other news; a package of electronic bits arrived today, so I can move forward with my White 3000 tandem coal truck. My goal is headlights, tail lights, and clearance lights using battery power and a remote switch.

This is my second NEO. The first was the Corvair panel van. Both are really beautiful models, with fine details, but the bodies are resin, not metal. They are pricey, though I'm very happy with them.

Just bought a few Die-Cast from a brand might currently have the best value to quality ratio by far. It's a Chinese company called "Caipo" that I found on Ali Express that has dozens of different models like these.
They're only $5 each shipped and seem to be scrupulously accurate in their scale labeling.
Did a review with lots of words and pictures here...
... as well as scans of the collection brochures.
The selection does lean high-end and euro, but there's still alot of the sort of everyday drivers that I'm always looking for.
@Capetrainman nice pics of Main Street! Especially like the hustle and busses at the station!
@Eilif is that your first time ordering from aliexpress? Have always come across things but have read mixed reviews. Regardless- nice buys for $5 each!!
For myself, got this guy in the mail today:
Already set up delivering/picking up goods at the back of the station
promised some more pics awhile back, hopefully I’ll get them up tonight

The other week I posted a picture of some trucks I got recently with a teaser of 58 Buick by Vitesse, here are some pics of the other vehicles I picked up at a flea market or via eBay:
All 1/43 from local antique market- Red ‘58 Buick by Vitesse. 1961 Ford Thunderbird & 1939 Rolls Royce Phantom III-both by Solido
New in the pics below: The Buick and Thunderbird from above. Corgi Lionel City Mack CF Pumper(ebay), Brooklin Models 1958 Edsel Citation(pop’s collection)
Another view of the above picture
Also from the antique market- Solido GMC6109 supply truck( don’t worry I didn’t pay $30 for it) and Corgi Wilton Farms Mack B Series Van
solido supply truck(decals added) with some of my new soldiers.
Also new in the pic below- gheJaguar F Type R Dynamo by Burago(found some nice Burago cars at dollar general). While the bus isn’t new I finally added it to my layout after realizing I had multiple bus stops and no busses!
added to my fire department.
Solido Fire chief car(pop’s collection) Corgi La France fire engine(dad’s collection)
Finally, Burago Mustang GT(dollar general) & Corgi Land Rover 109” Wrecker(dad’s collection)

That's a sweet truck. I didn't know Corgi made railroad vehicles.
As for Ali, I've ordered tons of stuff from there. Toys, LED's, guitar parts, small tools, stickers, small electronic accessories etc. Really any small part, tool or model hardware bit that I can afford to wait on (Can take a month or more to arrive), I'll buy there if it's cheap. Gotten a few wrong items but I was always told to keep it and given a refund.
They now have a very good secure payment system too, which is something they didn't have a few years ago.
@Eilif Thanks for the info regarding Ali and the compliment on the truck! Much appreciated, had always been unsure but your firsthand acccount makes me feel better about possibly ordering from there .
Re Corgi & RR vehicles, they made quite, under both the original Corgi Toys and Corgi Classics. Not only that, but the vehicles include both U.S. and UK RR names. Corgi Classics had the “Fallen Flags” line which I definitely suggest you look into if you’re interested in Corgi RR vehicles. And if you’re a Lionel fan check out the Corgi Lionel City vehicles. The truck below is from the Fallen Flags line which had vans, semis, busses, and other trucks
@TomlinsonRunRR Thanks for the compliment regarding the truck! Was able to snag it for less than the going rate. I found it to be very interesting as well. I have a 1/64 AHL PRR semi that supposedly transported goods from the railsto homes. This PRR truck, from the Corgi Classics “Classic Road Transport” line, is named “White Canvas Back P.R.R.” And the description states that it “...would have been a common sight at many rail-heads.” Not sure if it’s of the AHL type ilk or possibly for RR commissaries as you alluded. Will have to look into it!

Some new additionsThe tractor and the Bronco are Walmart finds. The tractor is painted up like Transformers Optimus Prime but doesn't actually transform and the Bronco was listed as 1:64, the other 5 vehicles in the series were about the same size but they were much bigger vehicles in the 1:1 world so they probably were 1:64 but since the Bronco was a much smaller vehicle I thin it is 1:43. I have another Bronco stored away so I'll have something to compare to. The Impala was found at Michael's in the rack with mostly larger scales, in the 1:35 range but the Impala looked about right. A little label peeling showed 1:43 so my eye was correct. It's got suitcases in the back seat. And the food truck sell kabobs. I think some interior detailing and maybe some drivers are needed. The are all held together with screws so interior improvements shouldn't be to hard.
And then there's this trioThey'll definitely require more work than the diecasts above.

Ted, thanks for the positive comments...moving the cars and people around is fun for me. The building is "Morrison Door" from Woodland Scenics. I'll get a picture of the rear loading platform and post it...nice detail and led lighting pre-installed.
Storm is headed our way too...I just hit the grocery store to be safe. Being near the coast, we always seem to be on the no snow / little snow / big snow line, so we never know what to expect for accumulation from these Nor'easters! In past storms, the weather forecasters may predict 2-4, and the storm turns further east and we get hammered...stay tuned! If Monday's storm is of any sizable accumulation, I'll get some time to work on the layout

@Capetrainman Before I compliment tour scene, who’s the Mfg. of your figures? The two by the stairs look familiar but the people by the cars in the parking lot and person by the logging truck are figures I don’t think I’ve ever seen- and I love figures, probably my favorite thing on my layout.
I second The comment regarding the Morrison Door building- man is that nice! I was going to ask if it was Woodland Scenics but just looked it up, very versatile and finely detailed building! Love the two trucks by the loading bay- great contrast between the earth tone logging truck and bright, 50s nostalgia colored van!
Also, it would appear the you @Quarter Gauger 48 And I are in the same boat(or should I say under the same snow?). Southeast PA and my Father told me before they’re calling for 15”-18” now!
Steve, thanks for your comments. I can't recall where those figures are from...had them for years. Woodland scenics did a nice job with "Morrison Door." The detail is sharp, and the led lighting tops off the appearance, with a led on the rear loading door and inside the building. On the South Main Street portion of my layout, I used Woodland Scenics buildings. I'm getting lazy these days with wiring under the table and choose WS because of the LED lighting system. It gets a little pricey, but looks good and the lighting system is easily expandable to non WS buildings if needed

Here is my 95% finished Freuhauf trailer. Still needs mud flaps, some detail painting, and weathering. I’ll also add ACI labels since this is a RR piggyback trailer.
The base/chassis is left over from a Revell missile carrier kit. I added a scratch built styrene box to include all the door and light details (in process pics earlier in this thread). The markings are my own artwork printed on photo paper to simulate signage and badges added to the ribbed siding.

Mike g...realistic industrial scenery on your layout...nice assortment of vehicles! The cement mixer and the tanker rig are adding some serious weight to your road system...the commissary van is cool, but looks like the proprietor could use a couple of customers at the window from the BNSF administrative staff on lunch break?
Loving these semis and heavy trucks. Unfortunately they end up looking too big on my O27 modern Christmas layout. To that end I picked this guy up at Goodwill.
Cab looks about scale but length is nicely undersized. It's the "Driven Micro" line from Target. Bed doesn't tilt but ramps slide out. Hood and doors open.
Has motor sounds and headlight when front wheels are pressed but I bet I can wire the lights separately to a jack so they are always on but the motor only sounds when pressed. Could use some paint also.
So there are some questions and work to be done but for 3 bucks I figure why not give it a try?
Lastly, there seem to be RC versions of these same "Driven Micro Series" that are rather intriguing...

Mike, as Ted mentioned, Artista has great sitting figures, as well as many other figures suited to create all types of scenes and situations. I just bought a few from Artista, including the ambulance crew carrying a guy on a stretcher On the cheaper side of things, I picked up a package of sitting figures on an auction site...the quality wasn't great so I ended up surgically removing the legs and used them as sitting figures in cars...but Artista are definitely the best sitting figures I've come across...

Richie nice find. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, guys and glad to see you're on the mend, Lee.
The '48 pickup is a Ford F-1.
The 'Vette is a 1957 model year according to the box and has the contrasting color coves which started in 1956 and lasted until 1961. The '62's had same color coves as the body and from '63 on there were none.
Here's another picture of the Maine Central that shows the front grill, which is reminiscent of a '39 Plymouth.

Hello everyone, a little news from my direction. Wife and I just returned from about 6 weeks on the east coast visiting relatives and family and did not do much with my trains. HOWEVER, while in Savannah, Ga I learned of an "antique toy store" directly in downtown Savannah called "Planet Fun". Of course this demanded a trip. While most of the toys dated to the late 90's or later and were space oriented (Star Wars, Pokemon, Japanese Space Robots etc) they did have a few die cast cars, mostly from Corgi in the UK. I picked up two versions of the small Morris Minor van that is used everywhere in UK for in town deliveries. They were mint in the box and priced at only $8 each. So here they are: They may be a little small for O Gauge more like S but these vehicles are small in real life, about the size of a sub compact car anyway. They are based on the Morris Minor automobile.
Here is the version from 1986, in what was the traditional Corgi package for many years. The car is listed as being made by Corgi Toys Ltd, Swansea, Great Britain. This van was "made" in Great Britain.
Here is a close up of the van itself. Note that the advertisement for "D. Morgan" does not give a product or service, I guess they were so well known that this was not considered necessary. Another interesting thing is the location advertised. It is shown as "Friars Entry" Oxford. This would have been the historical gate or entryway that (in the historical past) Friars (Monks, Priests, etc) were allowed to enter the walls surrounding Oxford University. It would have been a clear indication of the location of the company , outside of the walls on the city streets.
Here is the front view.
Now we jump ahead to 1993 and its clear that the packaging has changed dramatically. This box is considerably smaller, saving the merchant shelf space and the shipper volume but it is far more decorated, featuring a "city scene" on the inner cardboard envelope. In addition by this time the toy is now being made by Mattel and the manufacturer is shown as...Mattel (UK) Limited, Leicester, Great Britain - a Mattel Company. The line is now labeled..."classic Vehicles from Corgi" and like so many modern things, carries the information that it is "made in China".
The van itself is much more colorful and it carries a product logo and name (Coleman's Mustard). However it is the same size and make up of the D. Morgan van from 1986. It only advertises a product however and contains no location for the distributor that would presumably own the van.
Here is the side view, note the more colorful paint scheme.
Here is the front view
Interestingly, by 1993, Mattel was including a catalog with their Corgi cars. This little brochure was packed inside the box of the Coleman's Mustard van.
Well that is my "vacation find" and they are soon to be placed in my small town area delivering their products.
All the best,
Don

Can resist this thread. I'm 75 - my little cars as a kid were TootsieToy. So here are some of my favorites now on my layout. I have learned over the past 48 years in the hobby that if you see something you like-better buy it now or it will be gone. The guys were all parked at the sinclair station and the sinclair car wash next door because the Mel's Drive In got the dreaded "grinding noise" that nobody knows how to fix... I am having way too much fun and so are my grandkids that come over to play GrandpaChooChoo.

Great stuff all. First a shout out to forum sponsor: Diecast Direct. A little while ago, I ordered a 2012 Dodge Charger from them. I've been waiting for this body style to show up for some time. The model arrived in record time but was missing the steering wheel (right during the recent discussions about replacing missing steering wheels).
I called up customer support and, as usual, they were super helpful. They sent a replacement immediately and said to keep the other one. They are a great business/vendor to work with. Here are photos of the American Heritage Model 2012 Dodge Charger. The Midnight Blue looks almost black in the "real world" and goes great with my new (2016 Vol. 2) Lionel B&O milk car. I love the detail in the rear shot in the second photo down (although I think my camera lens has a scratch :-(.

Since I own a '13 Charger Daytona I may have to get one of these and customize it to match.
So here are some recent acquisitions:I found this one on a toy rack at the supermarket. You know the rack with all the 1/30something Corvettes, Ferraris and Aston Martins. It looked about the right size but once I peeled the price sticker off at home it had a scale 1/52 on the bottom. It will still work. The grill looks a little like an old IH but could be Russian or Eastern European. I've already added a driver, have to paint the wheels and front bumper white and may paint the steel struts on the rack body black.
1953 was a good year at the yellow and black dollar store. All 1953, all licensed by GM or Ford and made by Welly. A Chevy, an El Dorado, and a Ford. I remember some one once complaining he couldn't find regular basic cars. While the El Dorado may not be basic transportation the Chevy and Ford qualify even though they are both convertible. Just wish they weren't both the same color.
