Best Breakfast places before the York meet?

The Lyndon Diner has great breakfast also. It's across rt.30 from Ruby Tuesdays.

Alexanders under new ownership and recent reviews are poor.  Prices up, service down.

We rotate through different places for meals, for breakfast:  Denny's for their "bold", not dishwater, coffee, Golden Corral on Lancaster bypass, Cracker Barrel south of York on the Interstate, I didn't like the Lyndon Diner and haven't been back.  There was a place over by the Walmart, on the opposite side of the street....can't think of the name...or of others tried...

What was the diner we had the Legacy users group meeting, I thought it was very good. it was downstairs.

FWIW:  The one over by the Walmart is Perkins Pancake House.  Favorites are Denny's,

Golden Corral, Cracker Barrel and 'Round the Clock.  Old Country Buffet on 30 only

has breakfast on weekends and opens late.....when people will want to be at the FG

Sat. morning.  (some  Golden Corrals are open for breakfast during the week....did

not think to check the Lancaster one...but it may be only open Sat. and Sun. for

breakfast, too)

For super service and great breakfast's there nothing finer than round the clock diner.

I don't want to eat at the same place all the time....or buy the same few prototypes

over and over...I, when traveling, are hunting for somewhere different to eat.

Shady Maples, East Eari, Pa. has an early breakfast buffet EVERY morning, (I'm told, as I have only eaten there in the evening) but is off 322 east of Lancaster, not handy to York, so may only be good for that late FG opening on Thursday, unless you, like some, hit assorted open shows before Thursday.

Revision: Shady Maple is open 6-10 AM for breakfast SIX days a week...this being

Amish country, it is closed Sunday.  It has a HUGE gift shop on the lower level, so to avoid that, you have to walk up the hill to the main entrance, which is on the restaurant level.

Shady Maples sounds really good but I would rather not go a lot out of the way. By the time breakfast is over the York rush hour traffic is at it's peak so not going somewhere on the way could really cut into train time.

I like all the places mentioned, but what I like about Lyndon is it's very close to the exit off rt. 30 to the Fairgrounds.  You're already beyond the heaviest traffic.  Easy in and out at the traffic light on the corner.

If you are approaching York from the north, I would recommend Kuppy's Diner in Middletown, PA.  Excellent food. (Cash only).  Even Alton Brown (Cooking Channel) was impressed.

On the days the FG show, meet, frenzy?, is open, and certainly several years ago when the tent was up at the "Billy Budd", an early breakfast might be wanted....guys out with flashlights looking for trains...have not seen that lately...I THINK the Lyndon is open early, as is Denny's...I do not know anything about the hotel restaurants, but don't think they open early.  At least the one at the Billy Budd (current name?) was

not open as early as the show there, in the past.  I would like to know if some are,

for the early morning variety...the Sheraton appears to have a buffet...dunno how

early it opens?  Never tried it.

 

I second that. Great Breakfast lunch and dinner! We hit the Lyndon Diner at least once on our York trip but usually more than once! 

I usually go to the Bob Evens, which is VERY close to the fairgrounds on Carlisle Ave. I love their hash browns, link sausage, and quick service. I've also had breakfast at the Lyndon Diner and 'Round the Clock, but like Bob Evens enough to return.

Dienner's on Route 30 in Ronks has an excellent breakfast buffet.  Next to the Dutch windmill.

In case there are any TCA members old enough to have an AARP card (I'm probably one of the few), Denny's offers 15% off - show your card at checkout.

Mallard:  You did not post a grin face icon at the end of your AARP statemment. 

Denny's is edible, open early, and has "Bold" coffee to prop you up for the trek.  I'd

guess they see a lot of AARP cards twice a year.

Ronks is over on the east side of Lancaster, isn't it?
