I believe the look of both from the outside is the same?

The 806 being short boxed, acts different if I remember correctly? That's important when close coupling diesels with bigger porch overhangs.

The coupler pushes in, instead of pulling out like the 805. So when ever I can, I use the 805. I love watching the slack action (runout) when starting a train.

I don't have this engine of yours though, to discuss properly.

Question...What would you use the extended coupler boxes for ?

Clem

At first, I thought it would be for very long cars. I'm not sure what good it would do without custom couplers to match? I'd like to get my hands on them to see.

They maybe just for looks on the Atlas Evans box cars? ( to look like the longer cushioned coupler boxes?)

Hi, I've been looking at various kadees for my scale wheeled Western Maryland Decapod. Ive heard about both 805 and 806 kadee couplers, but don't know which one would be good for this engine and look the most prototypical. Thanks!

If you want PROTOTYPICAL look at Prototcraft. Nothing about the trip pin on Kadees is prototypical.
