I use a dremel tool with flexible shaft and cutting disc that I use on cutting Gargraves track. Yes, it melts the edge of the plastic but snaps right off after cutting. I then rub the cut piece over fine sand paper and all is good.

Other than that I’ve used a fine tooth hobby saw and cut halfway through the thickness and then snap it off. Rub the piece over flat sand paper to clean up the edge.

any suggestions on the best way to cut the thick plastic on OGRR ameritown buildings without melting

or having a rough surface at the cut ?

I’ve tried a jig saw and table saw,but it just eats it up.

thanks for any suggestions

Bruce,  If you set the table saw blade height to one half the thickness of the stock you should get a clean score/rut. Face down for the first cut. Flip it over and run it through again.  Ought to give you a clean cut, whether horizontal or vertical.  Then, as suggested above, sand it smooth.  John

There's no need for any power tools if you are just breaking the parts at the floor levels. All you need is a sharp knife and a file.

Score the plastic at the floor line on the back of the part.

Set the part along the edge of a table and bend carefully.

You can break the parts at the floor levels without scoring the line if you are careful.

A clean break, without scoring.

You may end up with a small piece of plastic sticking up at the edge. Smooth the cut with a file and you're all set.
