I just wanted to thank everyone here that helped me through a lot of purchases and recommendations over the last year or so to make this Christmas the best ever. This Christmas really started a year and a half ago when I purchased a bum Mohawk that I wanted to give my son from Santa in 2010. After 3 trips to Lionel, and the loco still not working properly, I decided to part ways with it and pre-order the Lionel S3 and shoot for a big Christmas in 2011.

Watching it get pushed back to November I got nervous, and against what my bank account said I took a chance and pre-ordered the Lionel K4, as it had an earlier shipping date. I had to take a chance. I had never been able to give me son a high end loco from Santa, and since he is 7 years old, I knew this may be the last chance before he no longer believes.

To make the rest of the story short, as we all know, both locomotives made it before Christmas. I want to thank all the forum members here for keeping me on the tracks through this whole anxious process for me. And a special thanks to RickO, who has followed most of my posts since my issues with the Mohawk, and has really put me in my place for the better when I needed it. Many of us here can sometimes get a little crazy about these "toy" trains, and he has a great knack for reminding us that these simply are toys meant to be enjoyed.

So that's it! After about a year and a half everything worked out Great this year!

Thanks for everything guys!

Thankyou for the special mention hatch, I've recieved numerous ideas, answers, and solutions from others here as well. Thanks to all the members and especially thanks for the OGR Magazine Staff for allowing us to have a FREE outlet where we can share thoughts, ideas, and problem solving especially in a hobby where theres not "a guy down the street" necessarily with the same interests.
One question though...........your not really gonna pack those trains away till next Christmas are you?????? Smile
Just think Hatch one day when that little guy is a lot older he'll get a new engine and wonder why it doesn't have any roller marks.

I can hear him now "Dad how come the rollers on this new engine don't have black marks on the rollers from the factory?" Big Grin

Did I say a lot older?????

Look at that smile!!! I hope not!

Yes, they have to go away. Small apartment.

Honestly, after 4-5 weeks of playing trains both of us tire from it a bit. Fact is that all we have is two loops of track than run circles. But thats an entire other thread that I will start in a few days looking to make my holiday setup a little more interactive. Besides, I've always felt that just taking the trains out fr the holiday make them that much more special. But its always sad to put them away.

But thats not what this thread is about!

Thanks guys!

PS...while i may grow tired of just watching my trains run in a circle, I stare at my S3 like all day long! ha!

And for what its worth, while some may think the steam chest smoke effect is gimicky, my son thinks its the coolest thing ever!
