Roger, once you do an update with the blue modules, they're really not useful for anything unless you hack them to turn them into writable modules.
Thanks John for this info....but I will be selling 2 of the 990 Legacy Sets and I need these modules to make the sets complete. So are you saying that I only need the white modules if I have updated the Cab 2 and the bases to 1.6 Version?? Are the Blue modules used only to update. I owned my set since the day they came out and I forgot about the significance of these modules that came with the Legacy sets.
The white modules, while relatively useless, do actually have a function. The blue modules only purpose is to apply an update to the base and remote.

The white modules set a couple of parameters, but nothing you can't do almost as fast from the keyboard. They're not like the Legacy orange modules that actually do some typing for you, setting the road name & number, etc. I have a pair of white modules that you can have if you want them.
