Well, I said that i would never buy anything from Trainz. Well, I just bought a prewar 442 diner with the box. I hope it is as nice as it looks in the pictures. If not, back it goes.

Good find, Ed. The 442 diner is a great piece. Why wouldn't you buy anything from Trainz??
Hope you got a nice one!
If it is the one sold by Trainz on eBay, it looks pretty good. From what I can tell, it is a minimum of 79 years old. Hope I'm in that good shape when I'm 79!
Tom, it came today. Yes, it is the one that ended on EBay the 10th Wed. Got it today FedX Came in 3 days from end of auction.. It's beautiful. The box is a brick 10.
GLAD you are satisfied with your purchase!

It's been a while now, but I recall too many tales of folks getting similar but incorrect, or more often lower quality of condition items (not the one that was pictured) and difficult returns when they screwed up .
I've not heard as much whine, so maybe they fixed themselves or "little boys"were just crying wolf....?
Scale Rail, it's a lot better than that one. Your hedge is been pieced together, not original. When I get a chance, I will post a picture. You can look at completed auctions and see it.
Thanks Eddie G. love to see it. Don
Ed, I’ve purchased a number of items from Trainz......it’s a good business to buy from....anything I’ve purchased was great.....I recommend them to anyone......
Yes Ed would love to see some pictures it sounds nice!
There is a saying among the old mountain men who braved the wilderness in the American West: "Sometimes you get the bear, and sometimes the bear gets you."
I think that might somehow apply to buying from Trainz. The Trainz bear has bitten me twice, and I'll never risk a third time. In brief, what was photographed and described is not what was shipped.
Sometimes a business can experience a rut of poor employees. It isn't something you can necessarily change overnight. I try to look at the present state of affairs for "if" and the broad picture for "if ever". Things can change.
(I took a couple of "looser locations" and turned them into district champs. But it took months/years.)
Now that you have this Eddie, what are you going to do with it? Is it going on a layout, on display or back into the box? Just curious.
On display.
