Purchased a brand new Jersey Central F3 AA Legacy set today came home put it on the track and it will not move. It tries to move and the front wheels will spin and it jerks a inch or so. I turned it over and it is very hard to spin any of the wheels against the gears. My other engines wheels are much much easier to turn.

I'm trying to run it with TMCC. This is the first time that I hooked up TMCC so I figured it might not be getting a signal. So i unplugged and de powered the TMCC base and tried to run it conventional. no luck, same type of movement.

Im new to all this, so should I just pack it up and bring it back or run it till it breaks loose?  I have a lion chief Plus that worked as soon as I put it on the track and have run it on same track for hours so Im pretty sure it is not a track or radius issue. hasn't made it to a curve yet.

I don't know if it is me or not but every brand new engine I have bough has had a least one thing broken on it.  Two I have returned and the LionChief plus has no smoke, which I kept and they will repair as soon as repair guy gets better.

Ugh what should I do? Pack it up or keep trying?

Just a horrible feeling to drop that much money and jus watch it sit and do nothing.

Thanks

Bob

Check the traction tires. All the F3/F7's (two sets I bought) had the wrong traction tires and they bound up on the wheel brake bracket and they would not run but wanted to. You can cut the ones binding off to make sure it runs. Lionel will send you new traction tires to fix.

Pretty easy to fix yourself or Lionel will fix it for you.

I have packed it up. I do remember seeing one of the traction tires kind of binding up while it was trying to move.

I will unpack and see if I can see what is happening.

Before I packed it up i had turned it over and used leads to power it. It still had a really tuff time to get it to spin but did eventually.  Put it on the track and it just derailed itself trying to move.

Do you remember if the second set that was included was also wrong?

Thanks

Thanks everyone.

Was just reading manual online to see how to change traction tires and read about error code indicated by flashing cabin light. The cabin light was flashing while I was trying to get it to work. The Non powered A unit was smoking and the powered A was not. While I was trouble shooting I turned off the smoke switch on the powered A. Guess I will have to dig it out and see what else is going on with it.
