Has anyone heard anything regarding delivery of the brass versions of the 4-4-0’s Jupiter and UP 119 as well as they’re associated passenger cars?  They were last scheduled for delivery in June...  is that still the case?  Need some fun news in these not-so-fun times.  Thanks in advance!

Ironically, I do have some information. I called Lionel one to two weeks ago and they said that the locomotives would arrive in the first week of September but the cars in June-July. I then later looked at the revised shipping schedule today and it showed for them to come in sometime in August. A little later than expected but hopefully the final products will look, and operate, as the sample models do.

Ryan stated on the TrainWorld FB video something about more information coming up about the color schemes changing slightly and that would take a bit more time with them. He wasn't clear on what about the colors were changes, just that the researches updated the team when some of the factory samples came in IIRC. Hopefully whatever the colors are that are the finished product won't be hideous.

Let’s hope that the paint change was b/c they caught something BEFORE it was delivered to the general public that they new would be unacceptable by our standards and they wanted to get it right!  Fingers crossed!!

Over here on TW post at roughly 32:00 in Ryan talks about the paint schemes as I mentioned above. It is better hearing what he said from him than what I tried to say. Have a listen.

After watching the segment, it sounded like there was more than what meets the eye. At one point Ryan mentioned that they had to change something with its performance, which is good, and that the paint changes are minor details. Also, he said that the sound system is nearly done and that both the cars and locomotives will be shipping around August. All I hope is that they do not make a mistake that is so ridiculous that they don't want to own up to it. COUGH misspelled Missouri COUGH.

Just talked with Lionel, they expect to ship within 3 weeks from today, something about having to repackage them.  For everyone that has them already, congratulations.

For anyone local, pickup is NOT an option, I asked, they must be shipped.  I asked about being lost or damaged by the carrier and they stated they would stand behind them.

The way package carriers are, I'd much rather pick up than ship.  Driving to PA from NC to pick up some trains, cheaper and no heartache over being lost.

My locomotives arrived today.  The Styrofoam, decorative box, and master shipper were fine.  Both were placed in a bigger box with little packing to keep things tight, the internal boxes could move upwards of 6 inches.

I'm only about 75 miles away and all arrived unscathed.  GREAT job on the design, decoration etc.

Got to give a grade of D on the outer packing though.

Thankfully all came through OK.

I'm glad I didn't order from Lionel then.  I had ordered from Charles Ro, then found the Lionel package was cheaper and wasn't too happy, but I didn't change my order.  I got the passenger cars when they shipped like a month ago, and then Saturday my locomotives showed up.  Been loving them.

But there was a loose part in my 119 box.  I haven't figured out where it goes, does anyone recognize it?  Also, the picture on the tiny parts bag is really bad, I can't tell where the coal pick is suppose to go.  Does it just lay on top of the tender deck, or is there suppose to be something there to hold it in place?

Looking at the part I think it might be from underneath the tender or it might be nothing. I have a 119 as well and I will look on mine and see if I recognize where/what it might be. Also, I agree with you on the detail bag photo. I have determined it hooks around a post on the engineer's side on top of the tender deck.  When I go and see if I can find where/what that part goes I will take a photo of where I think the pick goes.

Well, I looked underneath the tender and locomotive and I was not able to find a part similar to the one you found. Also, here is a photo of what I did with my fire pick.

Thanks for that info.   Visited the site back in 2015.  Took pics and the front was blue.  Must have painted them since I was there.  Thanks again

Yes and no. Both locomotives still have the same paint scheme as when you were up there last. The historians there have just revised the paint scheme and Lionel was able to become the first to use it. If my memory serves me well Ryan said that the historians are waiting for the right time to repaint the replicas.

Mr. Bachmann, the late Lee Riley, was instrumental in helping to research the correct colors of the locomotives.

I miss our chats at the International Toy Fair which is held in Nuremberg, Germany, each year.  Lee always let me in on inside secrets.  He knew he could trust me to keep my big Texas trap shut!  Not so here at OGR.  I admit I derailed a few times and apologise once again.  Sorry guys.

RIP Lee.  You're still missed by many!

Thanks for the help, I'll have to go home and look.  I never thought about the headlight, I was looking all over the tender and along side and under the boiler.

Yup, it was the headlight part, and it is now glued back in place.  Thanks for the help.

BTW, if I haven't mentioned it here on the forums yet, but you can double head these locomotives, the bar on the cow catcher is just long enough to make it work.
