I think bridges are the most compelling structures on a model railroad. My under-construction 10X5 railroad has two scratch-built bridges - a truss bridge and a trestle. The first photo shows the truss bridge as installed in 2014 and the second is a current view with the layout now about 70% complete. Truss bridge is 24 inches in length.
The third photo shows the trestle at the front of the layout. Trestle is 24 inches in length.
The fourth photo shows two truss bridges on my 12X8 layout that was completed in 2005 on the other side of the basement. These bridges were built from kits by Miami Valley Products. Although not clearly visible in the photo, there is a two-span girder bridge (with boxcars on it) between the two truss bridges. Truss bridges are 36 inches in length. The scratch-built bridges on the new layout are made from basswood. The two truss bridges on the older layout were made from spruce wood in the MVP kits.

Here are some pics of the bridges on my layout. The scene by the window is more finished than you see in the pic. I guess I should take some pictures of that. Also the Lionel Bridge span going over the yard has been replaced by the mammoth triple bridge you see in several of the pics.
Here is a link to my YouTube page to see trains running through the new bridge. You can also check out my other train vids for the progress of the layout.
Here's my new drawbridge spanning the opening to the center of my layout. It was built by Jim Ballmann of Stainless Unlimited. If any of you need any custom bridgework done, Jim is the man.

Mike. Yes, The White Subway set is perhaps my favorite, hasn't been run since a bought it. Hopefully will bring it to York in October to display on one of several working displays.

I really like your elevated system using either GarGraves or Ross track and mixing it up with tubular track on the lower level. Oh, and I love that Electroliner, too!
WOW, great bridges everyone, very nice !!
