I read that Brightline is now testing the completed trackage from the east coast of Florida to the Orlando airport.  That trackage has no "at road crossings" and thus allows the train to attain 125 + mph which is the goal speed for that section.  When the testing is completed Brightline will run from Miami to Orlando, and then in the next few years, continue on to Tampa.  The Miami to Orlando Brightline is claimed to reduce travel time by about an  hour.  The Miami to Cocoa section will not be able to attain the speeds that the Cocoa to Orlando section has, as the Miami to Cocoa section has too many grade crossings.  In addition there are too many people willing to risk their lives trying to beat the train through the grade crossing.

The Brightline railroad is a major undertaking. and hopefully will assist Florida in improving our transportation.  I understand that there is work being done to provide similar Brightline service from California to Las Vegas, and I have heard they are proposing 200 mph service.  This is very encouraging as we are  far behind Europe and Asia when it comes to public rail transportation.

I am hoping that someone at Lionel, MTH, Atlas, or any other O gauge manufacturer will produce an O gauge model of the  Brightline train.  Perhaps one of the Florida model train stores will take the initiative to solicit their customers and see if the demand can be generated to warrant a model of the Brightline train.  My desire is here, and my wallet is ready!

The speed restrictions are not crossing based as the crossing/timings had been upgrade for 125mph. The municipalities are the issue.
