"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Greetings from the other side....O3R...and a passionate peer for early diesels...

I've given up trying to get one of the O gauge mfrs to do the EMC EA/E1 in B&O/ATSF, respectively.  Iconic as they are, I guess their very limited prototype sales just can't justify the tooling/sales.

So, I recently sprung for one of BLI's ATSF AB E-1's.   (sigh)....it's gorgeous, to say the least.

But does anyone know why BLI might not have done the B&O EA's at the same time?  That's my other favorite, and the body styles were nearly identical.  Most of the difference was in the cosmetic paint/appointments...such as that classy stainless applique on the nose!...

Yo!.....BLI!   Please????

No idea from me?

I will say that I had a set of the later NYC E's (7's?) from them ( and a PRR steamer). They had my favorite sound package inside. I like the way the sounds were so dynamic. When the engine climbed a hill or pulled out with a train, the sounds cranked up smoothly and matched what the engine was doing exactly. If the throttle was brought back even a hair, the engine sounds mellowed down right away to match that throttle. Nice horn sounds with a touch of reverb too.

I came to O because I couldn't handle the tiny stuff anymore. I do miss some of these engines still. The newest stuff in O may match them? I think sometimes we find a favorite and it stays with us. Maybe they were just ahead of their time?

The side panels were different between the EA's and E1's.  If BLI painted the E1's in B&O colors the stripes on the sides would be wrong.

Hmmmm....  Now that's interesting, and something I wasn't aware of.  I'll have to dig through my 'archives' on these two and do a closer comparison.

That may be the reason why I've received a 'cold shoulder' in requesting these two be done in O2R/O3R by Sunset 3rd Rail.  If so, I wish they would have said as much.  I certainly would  understand that to accommodate this sort of variation in the basic body model construction would not be easy or inexpensive.

Ah, well......time to move on and look forward to something else.
