Read an article that reported that the Bud. Clydesdales were transported by rail until a change to trucks in 1940. Does anyone have any information (to include photos) of the rail cars that were used?

The horse team, driver, grooms, beer wagon, tools, supplies, tack and feed would be carried in a baggage car built to carry fine stock or vehicles as well as baggage and express.
It was common then to have a horse team crew ride with them in transit, the same as done when transporting race horses and trotters to various tracks across the US.
By traveling with passenger trains, a trip would be reasonably fast and on time. A number of railroads had baggage cars built for such trade. Here is an O gauge model I made from a photograph of a Union Pacific car.

Beautiful model. For the past few months I have been trying to figure out how to build an O scale 3-rail version of a race horse transportation car to add to my MTH (engines) /K Line aluminum (passenger cars) consist, "City of Los Angeles". I would appreciate it if you could share some of the the construction process with me as I am currently building two La Belle O scale passenger car kits and plan to try to use the La Belle products to build a wood version of the car. Obviously, the wood version would not work with the "City" train, but my intent is to have at least one car. After seeing your version I am now in hopes of building a UP metal version.

GGD offered horse cars for the Santa Fe, PRR and maybe a couple of other roads. Pecos River Brass offered one in Santa Fe colors. One end had full width doors which opened to allow buggies and wagons to be unloaded circus style. I think the PRR had some which looked like horse cars but were used by stage production companies. Some horse cars were built with windows which were later covered as the horses got nervous when a train went by.

Guys....I deleted all of the prototype photos because of possible copyright issues. Remember....if you took the picture, then it is fine to post. If someone else took the picture, then you must provide proof and state that in the post that you have permission to use the photo...or....that the picture's source is not copyrighted and quote that source. The GGD cars are quite nice. I expect them to be a bit scarce as they were don in brass. There were horse and theater cars. I think multiple roads. Here are a couple of snaps of mine. Both nice end of car door as seen in pro types. I believe Quite accurate. Well. I dropped in 4 snaps. They go where they want. 😳
