Went to Parma U.A.W. show, I got a Menards N&W hopper (need to do a fix on one coupler), 6017 gray with black lettering caboose, 636W set, a part for one of my congressional cars that keeps shorting out, and a Legacy control set; great uncle visiting from Texas got a Lionchief w/ Bluetooth Polar Express set and NYC flatcar with a vintage car on it, and grandfather got a 610 and 612 refurbished with original sticker on underside. Best show for our family in years!20181124_18043120181124_18031220181124_18011920181124_175948

Received this Atlas Lackawanna F-2/F-3 Phase 1, TMCC.  Very nice detail, basically new but has broken rear coupler that will require some work.  Look forward to testing it out.

Going by the different style number boards, I'd say it's an F2.  Here's an F2 and F3 together.

I also attended that show and got a 45-1028 ITAD in the package, plus an extra board, all for $15. I figured at that price, I couldn't go wrong, unless they both didn't work. I tested them when I got home and they both work great. Now to find/make another equipment locker!

I also found Ed Mularz' table and everything on it had low, low prices … plus a sign that said "Everything on this table is half priced of what's marked and ALL proceeds go to the Shriners." I bought as much as I could stand, and some stuff I didn't need - that's a good cause Ed, great that you were doing that! My giving this year will once again be to the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House - we called that wonderful place home for a couple of months in 2009 - wonderful place, even more wonderful people.

The Shriners table is where I bought the Menards N&W hopper. There's something about the railroad's colors that fascinates me. Now the hunt for a N&W Pocahontas set from a couple years ago begins...

Just received my Lionchief Plus Reading GP-7 from Marios Trains.  Before I say anything about the locomotive, I would like to mention Mario's super fast shipping, ease of ordering and fair prices.  I am very pleased.

I am also very impressed with the LC+ GP-7.  There is only one complaint, the smoke oil bottle is very difficult to get the oil out as it is extremely hard plastic.  That said here's a photo.

Just had this delivered tonight from Amazon – a Polar Express version of Monopoly based on the movie and book. Haven’t opened it yet but from the graphics and photos on its packaging it’ll likely make for a fun time for my nephew, niece, and granddaughter to play it while drinking hot chocolate after watching the movie.

Both of my grandmother's brought some things before or on Thanksgiving, so this wasn't really a buy, but something they wanted to pass on to me knowing my love for the hobby.

My Pop's houses from his Putz, going around the top of my LV loop. Many figures and accessories but removing all of them would take some time. Initially I thought I was just throwing these up haphazardly but they actually look nice. I rushed to get it done so my Grammy S. could see it on Thanksgiving. She was so happy(my Pop passed away about a year and a half ago, I like to think he would've been too.

Pop's Putz

My other Grammy called before Thanksgiving and said she found some "train stuff" in the garage with very vague descriptions. She said there was "like a place where people stand and wait for trains", but she didn't bring it. Considering the era that my Pop E. bought his trains, my guess is it's a 132 or 133 Station.

Marx Yard Tower- just what I needed for a dark area on my layout, unfortunately, the bulbs are TOO bright, even with the voltage on variable:

Marx Tower

American Flyer 8B Transformer. Tested and still works great with 110 watts. It's powering an inner loop of prewar tinplate. Unfortunately, missing a handle, if anyone knows of make-shift solution to creating one, please let me know!

Am Flyer 8B

Was EXTREMELY surprised to find this in the big box, with it's own box. Now I need to find where to put it. Also, significance of the light bulb? It goes with Pop E's AF Harbor Junction & Freight Station:

445 Switch Tower

Great assortment of cool 1940s-50s toy cars, houses, figures, and more(one is Made in Germany-US Zone), again, lacking room on the layout. Marx transformer's plug was ripped off, unfortunately.

Pop E's Toys

Finally, today's buy at my LHS that came in about a week ago. Can pair it with my other ore car. 3 generations, including Pop E, worked at the Steel. Also picked up the 145c track controller for the 445 switch tower.RMT Bethlehem Steel

Hey Dan, really nice looking Diesel, and show more pictures of your layout. I like the Lionel Accessories and really wish I had built my layout around them. It reminds me of the 1950’s and 1960’s...and from that time forward. Happy Railroading.

Your wish is my command.  Not really suited for this thread but what the heck.

Dan;

I never had a lot of PW accessories, basically two - a 145 Gateman and a #30 water tower I picked up from Madison Hardware... I forgot how noisy they were!!! I really enjoyed your videos. They show the ingenuity of their designers beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

@Diverging Clear Well at first glance yes but the reviews said that it would not. Thanks for showing me that, I didn't even think to look up by part number, either. I'm really just looking for a quick fix so I don't have to twist that knob with my hands which makes the speed less controllable. I picked up a new  needle-nose pliers last night, for other purposes, and just tried it out to twist the transformer "knob". It work pretty well, better degree of control. If I can find some junk pliers I may just tape or zip tie the ends together so they snuggly fit on the knob and use it as such. The original would be nice, however. Thanks again, Rusty.

Shaft size?

Old tv, radio, stove, car radios with knobs, and universal rotory knobs from electronics or machine knobs will likely fit. The shaft size varies only slightly. The ones with set screws can usually be used on a smaller shaft.

Im guessing the handle on the bay is missing the metal spring insert that would make it fit tight. It looks correct in style anyhow. Maybe you could drill and tap for a set screw (depends on position of shaft's flat). Or drill and drive a shear pin to hold against the flat. Reshape the hole with plastic wrap on the shaft and JB weld in the hole if needed  (a dab of silicone would keep it from popping off, but allow it to be pulled off if needed.

Grainger would have a knob with a set screw; from switch size to a few inches in dia., maybe even a lever vs dial type. But wading through the options will take time, the search engine and refrence & group listings kinda suck IMHO. I can use thier old paper catalogs faster.  In fact I know they have set screw knobs for 100% sure, but you can only call them up by knob shape, not attachment method, which is just stupid with over 1,000 knobs easy.  And SS might mean stainless steel or set screw, so you better read close.  (And this was once a primier industrial supplier. Who designs these sites anyhow? High schoolers?; close to it?; or just folk with no life experience beyond a keyboard & screen? )

I made my own - Lionel Milwaukee Road TMCC Snowplow.  I combined the PRR Rotary Snowplow that I bought used of the bay with and the body from the Milwaukee Road (non-rotary) snowplow shell.  The non-rotary body is about a 1/4" shorter then the Rotary snowplow body - so I 3-D printed a spacer.   It fits between the rotary plow and the MR shell.  I also had to cut a hole in the front of the MR shell for the headlight wiring to pass through.  It may have been easier to just repaint the original body, but I did not want to take apart the snow plow.  I've always liked the Lionel switchers / rotary snowplows, and I think this came out pretty good.

Been wanting an Erie RPO to make up a mixed consist EL-era RPO train. Bought one off ebay but the vendor said they erred and did not have it in stock IMG_0360after all. While they sucked up my $104 very quickly, they said a refund would be forthcoming in 5-7 biz days !!  Nov 30th will be 8 days.....     Meanwhile I checked the MTH product locator feature (duh, should have done this 1st) and 2 dealers were said to have it.  One called back & did have it, very fair price and would ship the next day !  Splendid !  Thank you Stockyard Express !  Now all I need is layout to put it on, lol.

I went to Seattle today and after hitting the museum of flight, I went to a good Hobby shop in Burien and got some good books. The one on the tight end is a catalog from a Japanese company that makes replica flight jackets. Got that in downtown Seattle...

I also subscribed to OGR today, including the digital version. I've been buying individual copies when they come out for quite a while now, but didn't see any reason why I shouldn't go ahead and just subscribe at this point.

The Caboose was a good deal, in my head it fit better with my 254E but I underestimated the size. Still fits though. The bare-bones K-Line Lighted station platform is a welcome addition to the RR as that side of "still thinking of a name for my RR" hasn't had the pleasure of passenger service. Now the Budd RDCs leading my freight consist have some people to pick up. The figures and benches I picked up over Thanksgiving so it works out well.
