Picked up this Atlantis 1955 Chev truck kit Saturday at Donovan's Hobby & Scuba Shop in Sioux Falls, SD.   Donovan said he had just set it out for sale !    Real nice guy,  good selection of modeling supplies, paints, plastic shapes, brass stock, wood of all kinds, etc.  Model trains & diving are his passions.IMG_2594

I just bought the same model recently. Was referred to this thread on assembly.

Take a look at this thread at page 40, around 4/8/2020 for pics and ideas on how to finish the stake truck.

@PSAP2010 / Larry :  Thank you, I would never have known how to pronounce that.  Neat that its history goes back to the Native American tribes.  Our city here in Texas, Waco ("WAY - Co") also gets its name from the local native American tribe that lived here and in fact was present into the 19th century and was part of and contributed to the early development of the city.

$8 crane from LHS

Smoking hobo hut, cool little piece.

New in box, impulse buy because I've always liked these and price was right from LHS.

20220129_080643

Cheap Santa fe b unit. Not exactly what I wanted, but $40 vs $200, I'll take it.

20220129_08084220220129_080848

Impulse ebay purchase, $150 shipped with PS1, why not? Now I have an excuse to buy some NYC Dreyfuss passenger cars 😉

20220129_080634

I don't have any REA cars and everyone needs at least one, right?

20220128_220336

My first marx train of any kind. Had to make a floor loop since it had the wide wheels which won't clear the frogs. Runs great and above average condition.

PRRick,  That was some trip to the LHS!  Your time on eBay was also well rewarded.

Here's mine.  Nothing fancy, just a Kusan/Williams BEEP shell that will make it much easier to convert a RMT LIRR BEEP into an USAF BEEP.  Now I don't have to repaint the original shell.

Good idea Joe. An ERR upgrade is doable too.

Bob/pennsyfan,

I was curious, too,  The website shown on the box is no longer active but I did find this one:

The ambulance looks great in your last photo.

@Big Jim

My kit has windows. They were hidden in the middle of the body parts, didn't see them at first.

Ordered the Lisa Wings of Angels boxcar pair Army Air Corps and Navy. Need to order the Army set. Dad was in the Army Air Corps and Lt. Clark Poling, also a family member was one of the four chaplains killed when the Army transport ship Dorchester was hit by a torpedo.
Been waiting for a long time for Lionel to bring out the Army Air Corps boxcar.

Bob I wish I had the nerve to tackle an ERR upgrade.  I remember you getting the ATSF shell from Trainland.  What road was the BEEP originally?

Don I was aware of the RMT USAF BEEP. I never pursued one when the first came out and once I wanted one they were gone and I've never found one on eBay so...

Pennsyfan.  I believe the Dimestore Dreams series of plastic vehicles came out in the early to mid 2000s.  There were 8 or 10 versions.  I picked up 4 at a Cracker Barrel to use on a Lionel auto carrier but they didn't fit.  One of the ones I have is a Sedan Delivery, blue and red if memory serves that must have come out the same mold as the Ambulance.

The new Atlantis versions of the 1/43 scale truck models, the Chevy above and the White Semi fuel tanker come with windows.  I believe I've read you could order the windows for the White from them if you have an older kit.  If they're selling those windows separately they're probably selling those Chevy windows also.

I came across this on the bay and thought I should have an ambulance for my little people. I had never heard of this manufacturer. The DimeStore Dreams cars are neat - a 1950's holdover.

I have a complete set of them, never taken out of their boxes - I'll get around to posting pics as soon as my workbench is cleared off again.

I might sell them - they've been just sitting on a shelf for bout 15 years now.

I have 3 BEEP's, PRR, PC, and BAR, so I took the shell of of the BAR and used the chassis for the Santa Fe. All of the lighting plugs in so I may upgrade the lights in the BAR shell one day so I can swap shells anytime.

Come to think of it, I could do all of the shells and have a fleet ready to go.

Rich here,

I bought a original Lionel Blue Comet that has been refurbished by a fellow that

does reconditioning. I think it looks great, 263e with cars coming when I have

Beautiful locomotive. I just bought the 2600 2-tone passenger cars yesterday at the TCA show. I need to find me a 263E to go with mine. The ones I got were repainted on the outside like an olive green, but the insides are the original blue.

And, of course, you MUST get a matching caboose...

Yes- still on the hunt for one.

Received my new caboose. MTH and Trainworld did a fabulous job on this. It has interior lighting, figures and red end of car marker lights. Really nice detailing at a decent price. Now I need to apply my MTA “M” decals and I’m good to go.

Speaking of Cabeese!

Very nice Strap. I may have to add one to my cart when my RS-1 arrives at TW.

Bob

Nothing extraordinary here, just two RailKing scale sized tank cars that I found at a reasonable price. Ever since MTH announced their break-up the asking price for anything MTH has gone through the roof on bidding sites. Folks seem to think the stuff is solid gold. It's nice to find something I want at sane, reasonable prices in this market.  They were $20-something each.

A Second Chance for Ownership ...

Years ago, I owned a MTH Alco DL109 with Rock Island décor, but sold it (along with nearly all of my extensive RI collection of O-gauge trains) after a series of medical incidents. It turned out that I misread the "handwriting on the wall." I survived those ordeals without deficits.  Now 82, l wanted to "re-collect" a few of those trains  I previously sold at auction.

Fortunately, I found and recently bought two RI trains:  1) the Lionel "General" RI&P steam loco accompanied by three 1880s-era passenger coaches; and 2) a hard-to-find MTH Alco DL109 diesel loco with RI décor, new in the box.  I'll display both items on the display wall in my train room.

It can be dangerous to re-read old MTH catalogs.   I was perusing the MTH 2019 Vol 2 catalog and saw this Erie-Lackawanna GP7 (#30-20650-1) that I really liked &IMG_2640 thought would be a nice upgrade to my "fleet".  The standard equipment on it rivals Premier offerings , at a friendlier price.  But this diesel shipped 2 years ago, so where would I find one ?   Lo & behold, Beth @Public Delivery Track had one !  At a good price as well.  Shipped quickly to me here in SD too.   This is the second time I have found an engine in her stock that I figured everyone was sold out of.  Thks Beth !

Trestleking,

That is the disease!  I touched those last MTH catalogs too many times and I ended up in almost denial that I purchased as many things as I have done, long after those products were released    Thoroughly cleansing my hands didn't seem to rid me of it, either.  They are still in my stack next to my recliner, calling out to me often.  It reminds me of the cravings I get for Breyer's Ice Cream and I deny that the Miller Engineering neon sign on my layout has anything to do with it.

This looks like the ' SCALE  Railking.  A great value IMO and a handsome looking GP7 in the E-L paint.             I have the B&O sunburst model and it has been a great runner.

I did add front and rear marker lights to it .
