New truck. Brought it in from France via the bay. 
Bought this 2 days ago to add a little action and whimsy to the layout. It isn't in its final place as I'm still determining that. I would love to see what anyone else has of these small operating pieces.
I didn’t like the way they looked on the surface How could a scale size kid climb up to get on the pad? I cut a hole in the table and installed 4 toggle bolts to hold the cut piece. Then I turn the butterflies up till the accessories were flush with the table. I used blue tape and ground cover to blend it in
I recently w on an auction for a number of accessories. I’m thinking the scratch built restrooms will be replaced by the mini golf. There’s also Mr. Smitt and puddles. I may have room on the other side of the track where the trolley station is.
Gosh that Stockyard Express sure is a dangerous place. I thought I pulled off a feat last week getting in and out while only buying my two tickets for Clyde's open house raffle. But no, he calls later in the week asking if I still wanted a flat car with the Sears PUP trailers. Why yes I would like that even though I completely forgot about it, see the also recently delivered Kodak PUPs from Mr. Muffins as evidence of my growing obsession with the PUP trailers. But since I was there anyways, might as well grab that Fruit Growers Express reefer that I saw on my earlier visit but talked myself out of the first time.
Been a long time fan of Weavers and then saw these crates available. I had the flat for some time that needed a load. These are perfect.

I received these two cars in the last ten days. The Lionel N&W PS2 covered hopper was a eBay purchase courtesy of my daughter’s Father’s Day gift. The MTH PRR N6b I found on Trainz last week. I’m planning to preorder Lionel’s N6b to see what, if any, differences there are on these models.
This replica of the Federal Paperboard smokestack (Steubenville, OH) just arrived. I think Altoona Model Works did a fabulous job on it.

Just picked up the Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer set 6-31936 off a local Facebook group. It wasn’t on my list but at only $50 (worth mentioning IMO) that’s perfect considering I wanted to pick up a CW-80 transformer anyways. Lady selling it didn’t know anything about them. Everything is there except 1 canister and one deck piece of the caboose. It’s all working too! Doesn’t look like too much run time on it. Another happy purchase!
Next purchase up was a few bridges last week. I was planning on doing the Nicholson/Tunkhannock Viaduct coming off the third layer and going onto the extension in the closet, but it would really have things crammed underneath. I opted out of that idea and grabbed some MTH single track arch and girder bridges in the rush color. Now to figure out what type of piers/supports I can use for the 18 inch height I need.

There are a few bridge builders that will make piers to any height.

A friend bought a 3d printer… I was able to draw up an amtrak catenary pole for my Acela and 3d print it. This is the first prototype with a quick coat of paint on it. There will be many adjustments and details to come!

The work train finally has a proper engine. 
Picked this up back in July, but just got a chance to unpack and run it Thursday. I’ve always liked the Santa Fe blue and yellow scheme and finally added one to my roster.

I just ordered some Dodge Power wagon pick up trucks from Menard's.
Nice looking trucks.
Well, I just bought some new 24 volt incandescent light bulbs for my Lionel Pullman cars on the Union Pacific Yellowstone Special (now you know where my handle comes from). I'd always thought that the stock 18v bulbs were too bright and those passenger silhouettes really showed up against the too bright interior. You can't see it very well in the photos. But those 24v bulbs dim the background light down a bit, so the interiors are not quite as bright as the other cars. After all, how else are the Pullman passengers going to get any sleep?

Well I just made the mistake of looking at those…
I'm not sure if this qualifies as cool, it's Menard's stuff. I took advantage of the Menard's vehicles on sale for $4.99, less if you can use the coupon. I live in California and no Menard's here. So I ordered and received 3 Dodge vehicles including the US Forestry Power Wagon, which is COOL! Then I saw the Western Pacific Hoppers and thought I'd take a chance on them. I bought a 6 pack which works out to $18.50 for each hopper. Of course these prices do not reflect taxes and shipping charges.
For $4.99 ea. these are nice die-cast models.
Note, the hopper bodies are colored plastic and not painted!
Some of the individual numbers were a little crooked! These are decals, not painted. Perhaps the assembler had little too much rice wine at lunch!
The lids actually open! Nice touch.
Unfortunately, Mendards used to have steel trucks, now they are plastic! The couplers pay the price, they are very weak and with just a small consist release easily. I'm sure I can solve this issue, just haven't played around enough yet. At least they still have steel wheels and axles.

Wow, there’s so many neat purchases made recently, it indicates that times in the model railroad hobby are good, I added a new Cab 1L to my control system, although I love Cab 2 to operate my layout, Cab 1L’s work great to. I actually traded my Cab 1L Base, from the set, for the Cab 1L, for a few dollars more. Great deal, just getting prepared for the future. And at a recent train meet, I found an amusing metal sign, I love these little creative pictures.

Also scored a white Conrail Reefer(by Weaver). Pretty much done with reefers. Here on out, in terms of modern trains, focusing mainly on Amtrak and the rest tinplate. Especially Remaining vigilant for reasonably priced MTH Amtrak 75’ auto carriers!

Scott- the QC on the Menards cars has not been great lately, but at the price point they are a good canvas to build on. Lot's of threads about the issues with the trucks and couplers. If you have a caliper, check the gauge on the wheels, many of them are off.
New trucks are an option as well.
The vehicles are sharp too.

Hey Scott, those are some varied and nice-looking Dodge vehicles. Awesome string of WP covered hoppers with opening hatches, too. I guess if you wanted to, you could eventually covert the plastic trucks to sprung metal ones. Nice going. 👍
I purchased the Lionel PONY RIDE: 6-82106. When my dad was a child in the early 40's my grandfather had a pony rink outside their house, Sanfilippo and Sons Pony Rides .10. My plan is to fence around the accessory and create a sign similar to the one that was there. I happen to now own and live in the same house, my driveway is where the Pony Corral was, lol.

I just put in an order for 9 vehicles from Menard's I'll post pics whenever they get here. For now my latest Lego addition to my trains.
Now I wasn't looking for lab created dinosaurs but I wanted a command ship for my underwater research and salvage operations and this seemed like a good candidate. I had to move the superstructure as far forward as I could and eliminate most of the dino restraints to fit an array of mini subs and DSRVs.

Finally a video of the new Menards Hoppers in a consist. Couplers continue to be an issue, but I was able to get this video recorded. Some boxcars added to the consist for Box Car Sunday, too.
