Didn't think I would have a military train until I saw a post here with someone's Menards cars, and that got me thinking. I got 2 of the Half Track cars, 2 of the Jeep cars, and one each of the Power Wagon and Tank flatcars. It's a really short army train, but it was affordable, and the cover story here is that these are headed for a military museum. The tank is I guess nowhere near the 40s or 50s era, so I'd like to someday get something like the 1/48 Tamiya Sherman tank to go on the flatcar, or maybe a car with a Sherman tank already on it. I was very happy that the cars all had good wheelsets and not many loose parts. The ammo box on the Tank's flatcar had come loose, but that was easily fixed. The Half Tracks had a couple loose wheels in the clamshell, but I think they are for the freewheeling feature if the vehicles are disconnected from the flatcar. One coupler doesn't hold well, but that might be a job for a rubber band. The clamshell packaging presses on the Half Track's upper guns, so those are bent downward on each. Just realized that I don't know what the shells on the Half Track flat cars are for, but they look good. Altogether nice job, Menards.

Went a little out of my comfort zone and picked up this Weaver Baldwin A-B set. Couldn't beat the price Trainz had it listed for. Looks to be new , so I thought what the heck.

K-Line Texas Special boxcar.  A "bonus" car for all those that had to get the Texas Special engines repainted.   NIB condition.  Only been looking a few months.

Would love to see those auto racks out of the box,  having a second hobby in the hobbies with the wonderfully 1/43 automobiles

For my On30 Utacolzona Railroad, a new switcher diesel.  Have not had enough time to make a new logo for the cab.  Maybe a patch for now.

Dallas, the new roofs are next to the cars in that picture.  Since NYC didn't run domes I wanted to swap them out.  I git the new roofs and the 4 vents for each roof from MTH. They arrived two days after placing the order.  I got the gray Lionel roof for the last car from Ebay, shown in an earlier post with a GN tender shell.  The finished products are on Whats on your workbench.

The following pictures are from a purchase I made from a fellow Forum member and it’s a model SD35 that was usually parked near the train station in Flora, Illinois where I grew up. The B&O passenger train would stop in Flora around noon everyday. A local train meet over the weekend had some O-gauge items in and among the HO... Found a USRA 0-8-0 in Milwaukee Road colors that had been broken out of an old Menard's set. And a Wabash flat with piggyback trailers that fits in with my collection that's primarily lines running into Chicago. And found a still-sealed-in-the-bag MPC-era grain elevator kit.

The locomotive checked out just fine; cleaned and added some fresh lube on the worm drive and got the air whistle in the tender going -- it was a little sluggish but some fresh oil got it running again. Here it is on the Carpet Central with some other cars randomly pulled from storage. On the tail end is a Kughn-era MOW bunk car doing waycar duty -- It's an unmarked repaint, one of my few items of uncertain provenance that my dad picked up before he quit the train hobby.

My wife and I just went to pick up our new eye glasses then went into the antique/consignment store across the street.  I came home with this Geller Toy Trains creation.  I've seen the sub alone go for $29 and more on eBay so when the whole car was only $29 I said "Alright let's go", even without the box.

It needs a little dusting.  I'm thinking about putting some real wood planks on the deck but Geller items seem to have high asking prices on the Bay, so I may just leave it as is

I got the GP35 and SD45T-2 9303 last week and SD45T-2 9238 a couple of days ago.  Have an MTH SP FM trainmaster also being delivered as well. At least I got the tunnel motors again.

No, Bob. It was an eBay offering. Looking at the wear pattern on the wheels, this car had some serious miles on it, and always with the same wheels facing the outer curve! And it still squeaks annoyingly, despite my use of a drop of synth motor oil!😕😕😕 Still very happy with getting it, though. Addendum - 2nd drop of Mobil 1 was curative! No more squeaks.

Great buy! I didn’t know that there was a Lionel stool with a backrest. That would come home with me in a heartbeat.

OK Joe......say  I  bought  this  whole  piece for the nominal asking price of $29......and the sub by itself might fetch that.........well ,the color of the real wood decking sure would show a nice separation of the sub from flat car.  🤓    (  just my $0.02 )

I just received my first MTH premier piece of rolling stock. Since I started my layout in October ‘21’, it’s been all Lionel. After reading many of the great reviews here, I gave it a try. I’m very pleased with the quality especially the trucks and couplers. I like the little added touch of the air line. When I started, I purchased a few inexpensive Lionel ‘standard O’ boxcars. Now that I’m beginning to appreciate the variety of the higher end rolling stock, I’m noticing a big difference, especially with the separately applied details. They’ll be many purple boxes added to my collection in the future.

Sharks were at the TOP of my list when I was a kid. I used to draw up this wishlist/plan to get a railroad going in the basement with $1K. It was the Williams Sharks set that I was after, but these Weavers look even sharper! Man things really have changed. What can we do with $1K today?

WOW I personally never been a shark fan, and I'm personally not in the hobby for the Investment!  And you will probably take away the investment value, but Have you considered a custom Paint job with the name Charm Valley AirLine on those or rail line and perhaps in Script.  Those lines and that name would be far out.

Hmmm.. 1,000 dollars? 🤔. I did look at the Williams, and I thought the Weaver just had better detail. It is a plastic body though. Williams makes a really sharp brass NYC shark...

Can't do much of a layout today with just a "G" in "O" Gauge. But my Trip to Costa Mesa, which I just bought a $10.00 in  "O" gauge automobile cost me 6 "G" when I blew the engine in my truck.  And we aren't even talking about what a "G" wouldn't do in "G" gauge
