Dallas, here's the Lionel Factory you asked about:

This is really nice Arnold.    Even though so many buildings today are really nice it is interesting to see the product thinking that was involved in past days on something like this factory.

It must have been extremely expensive in its day.

Congrats on your ownership .  Do an add on on that nice layout of yours 😉

Added some tank cars with a unusual road name. These were made for the Arkema Chemical Company as gifts for customers.

As the story goes, the tractor trailer bringing the shipment was involved in an accident and fire. Most of them were scrapped and the remaining ones just got handed around to employees. The salvage company managed to rescue several hundred of these that remained with the truck and sold them. My haul was 18 cars represent three different chemical products, perfect for a unit train.

Is the story accurate?  Who knows, but I haven't seen these anywhere before.

Here they are parked in my new freight yard ready to be coupled up and dragged out. I think my landscaping will have to include an Arkema Chemical Factory. :D

That's a sharp set of tankers John. A very special unit train for sure. Looks like an Arkema plant is pre determined to land on your layout.

Probably true, I will come up with something that looks like a chemical plant.

Gunrunner John-cool tankers and unique background story as well

Scouting Dad neat new Switcher

paulp575 that is one neat set. Don’t think I have ever seen one before. Super find!

Thanks Don, it was an interesting story.

I thought the train wreck set was interesting, I never saw one either.  I did a search and apparently there are lots of them around, one NIB on eBay for $175, cheapest price I saw.

My new switcher arrived from McCormick Hardware - an EMD SW-1 in the South Shore Line road name. I am impressed on the level of detailing for this Rail King Engine, built to 1:48 dimensions.

MAYBE  SOME  KIND  OF  MARRIAGE  POSSIBLE  HERE  !?!

🤓🤔

Spent 16 years in Montgomery AL. Each fall you hear about Auburn Univ and Univ of AL and the annual Iron Bowl.. Even if you aren't a sports fans, its hard to miss hearing about it.

Although I'm not a fan of sports, I decided why not get something to remember it by?

Recently got the Univ of AL boxcar (6-39287) to compliment my earlier purchase of the Auburn Univ boxcar (6-39304).

There was supposed to be 30 cars from Lionel in their Collegiate boxcar series. Only saw 9 in their catalogs.

6-39287 and 6-39304

UPDATE: Separate pics of both boxcars:

Great new buys fellows, now I can picture my new CSX Coal hopper, it’s a heavy car, and the new CSX Genset Switcher, the built to order train items just creep in. The Genset diesel runs and sounds really great. I have the BT off, the smoke off for now. Happy Railroading Everyone… 29CC0B61-EC6F-4BB3-8641-FFDF4101EF62672FC034-90AD-4537-BCBD-A21B3F99887D47B662AD-39FF-4CDF-8F6A-B1578498EAB035AB62D2-2DCB-4110-A9A8-C5B25FEE0A3FF6D50EFD-B1F9-46EB-BE7F-104DF0C91BF2

Always fun to see new purchases Larry.

Sharp looking Genset with the standout colors and the coal load in the hopper is nicely done.

Wanted to post this last night but had computer trouble:

@paulp575 nice boxcars, well-the Crimson One is at least! ROLL TIDE!! THat other Box car would look GREAT in a train wreck scene with your wreck recovery set😁 I kid. Both really cool box cars. To you and @coach joe- nice find and buy on that wreck set! Personally, trains made between 1999 and 2009 are my favorite and are my favorite catalogs to page through(Lionel, K-line, K-line by Lionel, some MTH). Idk if it was the competition in that era or what- but man were there some unique and well-made items all across the board- Motive Power, RS and especially accessories. Nice finds guys!

Part Deux: @ScoutingDad very cool/unique South Shore Line SW-1 switcher! Love the colors and it certainly looks like a quality piece of Motive Power. I really like Raiking Scale diesels- they really are well-detailed. Just curious-Is that a “new MTH” production?

@gunrunnerjohn those Arkema Chemical tankers are awesome! Cool set with an even cooler story! The colors, font, etc...really jive together. great addition for your layout!

@leapinlarry Awesome Genset AND hopper! Love your road name choice- Love CSX And it’s predeccesors. Neat visualizing the Genset creeping to pick-up that hopper! Love the detail and, in general, love that Yellow on black paint scheme from CSX that has gotten some love lately- the Lionel 65’ gondola would look great with that. Btw- whose the mfg of the hopper? Looks like Lionel? Finally,  If you run the smoke unit, please post some pics!

@pennsyfan Your new reefers And new vehicles look great! They’re definitely eye catchers. Your layout scenery looks really cool as well! @FECRailroaddog awesome baby TrainMaster! Always loved that H10, just a neat loco. Also like the look of it in UP colors- very crisp detailing. I just received some new items that would relate to your FM H10 and your username.

Great new stuff all around everybody!
