I always enjoy train depots that have survived & been restored - here are two. Early business at the C&NW in Redfield, SD must have been good as this station was built in 1915, replacing an earlier frame structure. This beautiful station was built with a dining room within and is now a museum. The box of lanterns was recently dropped off by a local resident who was going into an assisted-living center and wanted them to go to a good home !
The second restored depot, in Deadwood, SD was owned by a 'Northwestern predecessor; Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley. It is now the Deadwood Visitor Center. Maybe you are like me when you see a depot squeezed into a town, you wonder - how did the trains ever get in here ? That's a whole other story....
