The Ford Model RailRoad Club purchased the Legacy system and 2 Legacy Cab-1L Remotes number 6-37155.  One of the remotes had dead batteries between shows.  I replaced the batteries with new Alkaline batteries but at the next show 3 of the 4 batteries were dead.  Anyone have ideas on how I may fix the remote or does it need to back to Lionel?  Thanks for the response.  Bruce Clark

When I put the remote away, I use a small piece of plastic and stick it between one of the battery ends and the contact inside the battery box.  This is effectively a shutoff switch.  You can also simply remove the batteries, I just prefer to have them there when I take the remote back out.  The remote will use battery anytime the batteries are connected, nature of the beast.  That's true for the Legacy remote as well.

Guys I have been using Cab1 and Cab1-L remotes for about 10 years both at home and the Club's system AND I have NEVER had this problem before.  The Cab's have a timed shut off that you can check by seeing how long it takes them to shut off after the last key stroke.  i am seeking to fix the problem not a work around.  Thanks Bruce
