Haven't run trains using my Legacy set in quite awhile. In trying to test a locomotive on a section of track here at home yesterday, the engine was unresponsive and just took off when I turned the 180 Power on. A few weeks ago at the club a member asked me to bring it to test a new engine he had purchased and it wouldn't respond to my set. I didn't think anything of it at the time as the club has settled into using Lionchief and its variations almost exclusively.

I just figured the signals were getting scrambled or similar. Now today when I tried a third locomotive with it here, it doesn't appear to be sending any kind of a signal as the loco took off with power applied to the track. Any suggestions as to what I can do to ascertain what the problem is? I kept it on charge in the base for about an hour before trying the 2nd time today but nothing. The handheld seems functional in that it switches functions as normal.

Thanks

Sam

The base sends out the signal to the engine. Not the CAB 2. The base signal has to be on the track and ground wire overhead or the engine will take off when power is turned onto the track. Check the base for signal output at the banana jack where the wire is attached that goes to the outside rail of the track.

There is a thread on this forum on how to do that. Look for it. I’ll look for it too when I get some time.
