I have a Lionel Cab2 base and remote. I recently came across a second base and would like to swap it out for the existing one I have on my layout.

I have searched the internet to learn how to do a back up of the old base and then load the into into the new base.

I do have the "Y" cable, black writable module and the USB to RS232 cable. All the videos that I have seen show how to update the software. Since I am not doing that, and all I want to do is to backup the engine files from the old base and then upload it to the new base, is there another way to make this happen? Or do I need to download the Legacy software to make this happen?

Thanks, RAY

I always wanted to use it via the Wifi connection (with the LSU utility) so I wouldn't have to move the laptop. The problem is that the Lionel Wifi unit doesn't make it easy to set up a network connection with modern routers. This has been rehashed before in this forum and I don't want to go down that road again. I assume the Cab3 will make it all easier.

You need the LCS Wifi Monitor LE to beat the WiFI into submission.  Sadly, I can't find it on the "new and improved" Lionel site.  I could never get my WiFi linked to my computer properly before I used this program.

I love the fact that I can connect my computer to the layout without wiring anything and edit engines, do modules, etc.

You assume facts not in evidence as far as the CAB3...
