Can I control a TMCC locomotive on a Legacy 990 Command Set

I just picked up a Conrail Dash 40-8 diesel locomotive with a set of J.B. Hunt trailer cars for a smoking deal and now i am left with the task of getting it to communicate with my Legacy command system. I believe that i need to use one of the plugs that come with the command set. How is this done? Do I need any additional equipment to get this done? Exactly where would the port be located on the engine? I am feeling a bit overwhelmed as the rest of my trains are Legacy.

Don’t over think it.

Assign the TMCC number like you would a legacy using the Pgm/Run procedure.

Once you do that, using the ENG # you assigned, push info and assign the name, road number, engine type, control type as TMCC, and the RS type as RS or RS5 as appropriate. It’s all in the manual.

I run two TMCC locos on legacy without problems. It obviously won’t have the sounds a legacy loco will, but it functions like a normal TMCC loco.

A TMCC loco will have better speed control running under Legacy than under TMCC.
