Can't attach short videos

I just tested uploading a small video myself (see below) and did not see this issue.

Can you try it again to see if the problem persists?

Generally speaking, if your video file is over 100MB in size, you need to upload it elsewhere, such as YouTube and then share it here as Rich so thoughtfully shared here:

The "Slow the train down" message looks to be the forums new custom cutesy language indicating an error.

Here is the upshot. I followed Rich Melville's advice, shut down and rebooted my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone.  Now, I am able to attach a photo, and a video, to Forum posts, so that problem may be solved. However,ò it still took a long time, about 3 minutes, to upload the photo, and about 5 minutes  to upload the video. The video was only 10 seconds long.

In the past, it took a few seconds to upload a short video, and virtually no time to upload a photo. It might take a minute, not more to upload a 50 second video onto a Forum post.

Anyone know the cause of my current uploading delay of attached photos and videos?

I don't know if the prolonged uploading time is caused by the Forum  or my smartphone. I have about 3,000 photos/videos in the Gallery of my smartphone.

The speed at which a video or image uploads from your phone to the forum is totally dependent on the speed of your local cellular or WiFi connection. It's not the forum server slowing you down.

Are all 3000 photos and videos stored on the phone itself? I have an iPhone, so am not sure about yours, but most if not all of my photos and videos get pushed to cloud storage, so retrieving them from the cloud to save locally or upload elsewhere could be a cause of delay.

Good point, sinistar. If your photos are stored on a web server somewhere (the so-called "cloud") then the upload will take even longer.

A few minutes ago, I tried to attach an 18 second video (32.82 MB), way under the 100 MB limit, and couldn't do it. Instead, I got a screen with red print that said: "Bring your train to an easy stop, you got a red signal."

I thought this problem was solved a couple if days ago, but it's not.

What is going on? Arnold 

I don't get it, I just fired off the upload of a video and it shows up.  It has to be something about your browser.  This is an MP4 file from my phone, and it's about 80MB in size.  I just clicked on the Add Attachments link and pointed to the file.  I then clicked on the link to embed it in the post.

That's the message when you link to something that doesn't exist, say a post that's been deleted.

I don't understand. My Forum post and video both exist on my smartphone. There is no link involved. IMO, the problem is that the Forum does not want me to attach short videos. There is nothing at all controversial about the videos.

The "Bring your train to an easy stop..." message is a generic Error Message that is displayed for anything on the forum that generates an error. I thought it was a better way to say that than the forum-supplied, generic wording of "ERROR." Under that message, in smaller type, will be the reason for the error. What did that say?

I hope your statement that, "...the Forum does not want me to attach short videos..." is said in jest. No one here watches the videos before they are posted in order to "approve" them. It is a totally automated process.

I just did a video post in my testing forum with a video file that is 99.98 megabytes. It is purposely saved at that size so it is very close to the 100 MB limit. It uploaded and displayed just fine. Either your video file is larger than you think it is, or you need to try another browser to upload. The problem is not on this end.
