Can’t seem to add locomotives to DCS

Either says out of range or no engine found

Can someone also link me to the correct curly wire to buy that will fit the TIU & REMOTE

Also this red light stays on, does that mean my TIU is broke? The red light only stays on when bannana plugs are in Fixed voltage IN1 when I switch bannasas yo Fixed voltage in2 the red light disappears. Also while in IN1 the locomotive doesn’t make sounds. In IN2 it makes sounds and boots up

Well a few good things are going on. In order for DCS to work. Fixed One must be powered up or you need to power the TIU with an auxiliary power supply. The fact that the engine is coming up silent is what you want. When you switched over to Fixed 2 you had no signal and the engine was coming up in conventional mode.

The curly cord to tether the remote to the TIU is just a phone handset cord. You can do a read and your remote should show on the screen that it found the TIU.

Try using an isolated track on the layout or just use an extra piece and only power that one section and nothing else. You should be able to add your engines. Once added your layout itself may need some work to get them running properly.

Bottom left of the remote. Push the Read button. It will do a quick search and should find yourTIU.

Yes on the light. It will come on then flash. In your case probably one time seeing it’s probably assigned TIU 1. It will remain on after it flashes.

Seems like everything works fine after I added that test track. Also what does that single test track do that the others don’t?

It just gives it a clearer path between the DCS system and the engine. Less chance of some sort of interference.

Any idea how far the DCS signal goes from the controller to the TIU. With my TMCC I was able to control it from my other room since the TMCC had that huge antenna. Can I also control my trains from a different room with the DCS system?

It depends, but you can add an antenna to the TIU to improve the range.  I don't try to control stuff from the other room, so it's a moot point for me.  I know there are two places in my basement that I can stand that put a concrete wall between me and the TIU, the remove loses contact when I'm in those locations.

Note that the remote to TIU range has NOTHING to do with the track DCS signal.

Does anyone know if my lashups/engines save after shutting down my system or do I have to relashup everytime

Your lashups will save under their assigned numbers.

When adding a PS2/PS3 locomotive to the system only the locomotive you are adding should be on the track powered up. No other locomotives should be powered at the same time.

How many trains & engines can a DCS system have is is 1-99 engines and 1-9 trains like TMCC?

Anyone know why my engine lights are messed up in my lashup? I put the UP as head, and one ferromex in middle/end all the locomotives don’t light up anyone know why?

When locomotives are assembled into a multiple-unit (lashup) set, typically only the locomotive on the 'forward' end lights up. When you attempt to move the locomotives, do they move in the direction of the lighted unit? If you put the set in reverse, do the lights switch to the opposite loco?

Menu Operations - Advanced
DCS Lash-up Defaults:
Smoke units in all engines are turned OFF.
Head Engine:
- All sounds fully operational.
- All lights fully operational except the back-up light will not turn on when the lash-up is
‘ in reverse.
- Only the front coupler (if the engine has one) is operational.
Middle Engines:
- Only engine sounds are operational.
- No lights are operational.
- No couplers are operational.
Tail Engine:
- Only engine sounds are operational.
- Directional lighting is operational. (i.e. if the engine faces the rear, the headlight will be
on when the lash-up is in reverse, but if the engine faces the front, the back-up light
comes on in reverse.)
- Only the coupler at the rear of the lash-up (whether it is the individual engine’s front
or rear coupler) is operational
