Hi Folks,

I found this video on YouTube a few years ago, and just viewed it again.  The gentleman is David Hall and I was happy to see he is still active in the hobby.  Although he works in HO, his ideas are easily translated into any scale/gauge.  These ideas are perfect for those limited on space and funds (no switches/turnouts).  His 3rd layout has a very clever design that is rather intriguing.  Yes, some custom cuts would probably be necessary in a couple places.  Any of these ideas would be perfect in O gauge.

The 3rd layout is at the 6:18 mark, but the whole video is worth the 10 minutes.  (I would love to do the 3rd one in O27 tubular or GarGraves flex.)  Helps to see trains actually running instead of just an image of a track plan.

Christmas is just around the corner!  Time to start now!

Take care, Joe.

Those are fun plans, I remember them from a while back. I think Dave Hall's HO layouts use 10" radius curves. I worked up these versions for O27 tubular track with a minimum of "custom cut" pieces. The third one uses some Marx O34 curves.

Hi Folks,

Here is another favorite from Janis Roguskie:

She explains her track plan with custom-cut fitter pieces:

I believe she has modified this plan in recent Christmas layouts:

One thing I discovered when I needed 'custom' fitter pieces is that you can bend your own curves just by hand (with gloves) after removing the rails from the metal ties from tubular O27. (Shape one rail at a time.)  The metal ties help keep everything in gauge once reassembled so they don't have to be perfect arcs.  Just get one rail approximately correct, and the rest will follow once back together.  O27 is very forgiving.

Take care, Joe.
