Chuff rate on 0-8-0 Lionchief lionel

Not uncommon on some model railroads.  I don't think you can modify it easily.

The LC models have a chopper on the smoke unit piston linkage, in order to get more chuffs, you'd have to replace that mechanism.  It can be done, but it's not going to be cheap.

I'd probably buy an LC+ 0-8-0 and swap shells if I wanted to do this.

OK thanks , do you think this model has a little prong on one of the axle to be detected by the sensor to do the chuff?

If it's right, maybe it's possible to add a prong on a opposite of the one already in place

From what I've gathered all LC steamers are 1 chuff per revolution. LC+ steamers have a 2 chuff per revolution and LC+ 2.0 steamers have a 4 chuff per revolution.

I've removed prongs from a 0-6-0t. LC+ 2.0 where 4 chuffs per revolution were too many. Don't see why you couldn't add to a LC+ but the LC engines I believe work differently. Maybe others can provide more information.

It's not that simple on the LC models, it's based on rod motion, not wheel rotation.  You're thinking of the LC+ 2.0 mod discussed here recently, a totally different hardware package.
