I live across the Ohio River from Iroton,Ohio (we cruised the main drag there back in High School) and working on the NS still cruise thru there occasionally as the Kenova District passes beside the last stop of the D.T.& I., the old N&W transfer yard.

The Ironton Yard is rumored to be on the chopping block.

We still have a track in the yard that is called "The Old Main" which was the D.T. & I.'s old main into the yard.

I went past some of the remaining catenary arches south of the D just the other day.  There is as much traffic along there as anywhere else nearby from what I see.

I didn't watch yet, but the crossing at the Ohio River was near all that kept Ford from connecting right to the (mostly his)Virginian RR and electrifying the whole shebang from Deepwater port to Rouge (S. Detroit)..  No telling what control of that short line could have done for him, us (Detriot), and the country.

He sure was a "world shaker" 😎

What a great video!  Sadly Colin I don't think there is much left that's not on the chopping block.

Agree Jeremy.

The DT&I roundhouse in Ironton was located where the Rax's roast beef is located.

The owner who is a G scale modeler , told me that. I never knew that before.

Let me throw you some info. while on on here.

The Williamsom roundhouse and Prichard coal tipple are on the chopping blocks . Heard that at work the other day.
