I'm just starting out in model-trains.   I'm planning on staying within MTH products, but I like the Williams #40602  Baldwin 4-6-0 engine & tender.  Would this run on an MTH system using all MTH parts -- including their DCS ?

(At this stage I have some MTH engines & cars, and also some Lionel cars.  I have not yet bought track, transformer, or DCS.)

Thanks for any response & advice !

Yes, with the full MTH DCS system (TIU & Remote) you can run the Williams engine in conventional using one of the TIU's variable channels or by powering a TIU fixed channel with a variable transformer and using the transformer handle. You won't want to run command and conventional at the same time on the same track, separate tracks for each would be much better.

If you are just starting with DCS I would recommend the DCS Companion book by Barry Broskowitz, available from the OGR web store. Well worth the price and Barry participates here and offers a lot of help to all us DCS users.
