Does anyone make o gauge Vietnam era steel Conex shipping containers?
I need at least one to use as a pattern for moulding more, but would prefer several?

If you cannot find anything in 1/48, 1/50 or 1/43 you might be able to use these. The 28mm gaming sites have items that are about 1/56 scale.

The CONEX Box of the 50 and 60's were fairly unique. They were either 6 foot or 8 foot cubes which could be loaded to a general cargo vessel and then offload directly to a flat bed truck in the field.
The US Military still uses a similar item however these are equipped with corner castings at each of the corners for use in securing lifting and attaching together. One style is the Tricon which is a bit over 6 feet long and 8 feet wide and has a great feature described below.
A unique and versatile mini container, Tricon is used extensively by the United States Armed Forces. The Tricon is configured so that when three of these units are secured together using the exclusive SeaLock connector, the resulting package has the same footprint as a 20' ISO intermodal container.
Therefore when attached they can be shipped via rail, ship or truck which is equipped to handle 20 foot containers.
There are also quadcon containers which are a little less than 5 feet long and 4 when mated have the foot print of a 20 foot container.

That's what I'm looking for. Can't find anything exactly like that in 1/48... 0r close.

I also took a gander in the HO scales and I didn't see anything like a 50-60s Conex box or a modern Tri or Quad Con.
I do have a crazy off the wall suggestion. Buy a couple of 20 ft O scale containers and cut them in half and put simple styrene on the back...then your boxes are 8 by 10 feet and quite close to the true dims. If you using it for a static display just put the modified end away from your view. If you feel the need for a complete all the way around box you can do a bit of kit bashing. Use corrugated styrene for the end wall and 1/8" by 1/8" rectangular styrene for the corner posts.
Hmmmm.... I think I just came up with next mini kit bashing project.... time to find some cheap 20 foot boxes online.
