Just started putting a layout using LC+2.0 locomotives. I have about 22 RC switches in the layout. I was planning on using the Lionel app and a universal controller to run the trains. I can co-locate all the switches in one area but was wondering if there is there an option to control all the switches via the app or one controller without spending a fortune on the other obsolete controllers available? Thanks

Someone will correct if I'm wrong, but here's my understanding:

1. You cannot operate switches using the basic Lionchief app.

2. Since the switches are RC, but not CC, you cannot operate them using just a 990 Legacy remote and base.

3. You could go to the Lionel LCS system and iCab app which would allow you to operate everything (trains, switches and accessories) via one controller (such as the Legacy remote or an iPad) using ASC devices, but I believe you need a Legacy base at a minimum.

4. You could operate all switches using MTH's DCS system and one controller (their remote) by integrating AIU's into the system (they will operate FT switches).

5. Having said that, being able to obtain Legacy or DCS systems right now is tough due to scarcity and/or outrageous prices.

6, You may also be able to "roll your own" using boxes and controllers obtained via the internet, but I'm not aware of any controller that will let you operate all 22 switches from one controller.

By far the simplest and cheapest way would be one of the relay based RF Remote control kits.

16 Channel Relay Based RF Remote Control

This would do eight switches for less than $30.

You have to read the 3rd review down on Amazon, the guy licked/tasted the circuit board to verify it was covered in salt...

This board seems like a great solution to turn RC switches into CC switches. Great suggestion, will give it a try and let everyone know how it tastes
