The Lionel stuff is covered in:

The MTH stuff is covered in:

I'm not aware of any recent DCC books but there are some from 8-10 years ago.  DCC, in my opinion,  is not really all that relevant to three rail O gauge unless you are interested in doing a fair amount of hands on technical modifications and buying used locomotives since the only producer of DCC locomotives for O gauge, three rail, MTH is no longer producing a full line of products.  And DCC cannot be operated at the same time as PS2 and Legacy/TMCC/LionChief equipped locos.  As for instructions on combining DCC equipped locos and those from Lionel, you're pretty much on your own.

It can be done but with a lot of heavy lifting. That is why most people pick one or the other, DCC does not play with with Lionel or MTH

Besides Lionel Legacy/LionChief & MTH DCS, there are quite a few aftermarket wireless systems which require user installation. I have tested most of these and they work fine. The wireless mode is gaining popularity. In the Lionel 2022 catalog, there are almost as many pages devoted to LionChief as there are to Legacy. The other control concept gaining popularity is the smart device based app mode. Unfortunately, I know of no current complete index to all of these available non-major company products, but am currently assembling some info.
