Hi all,

My layout uses old school Flyer track, and conventional Flyer/Lionel transformers.

I have power feeds to my turn-table and my round house tracks are controlled with a rotary switch. But I don't like having to go to the transformer to control speed. I want to add a local control, but stay on same transformer power.  I know I can add a separate transformer but like the simplicity of just one.  Can someone recommend a Rheostat for to control the track voltage at the roundhouse?  I have bought one that is junk, and one that is too big, specs were not clear.

Thank you in advance,

Flyer

If you want to try a rheostat you will need one between 5 and 10 ohms rated for 50Watts. Good luck! A better way would be to use an MRC AH101transformer with the wired remotes. They use standard telephone jacks. I have put jacks at key operating locations around the layout. Then just unplug from one jack and plug a remote into another jack near your turntable.

How are you wiring the TT to account for the fact it is a reverse loop? I am using electronic sensing solid state boards to flip the polarity.

Tom,

Thank you for the reply. Finding rheostats does seem to be a struggle.  I will keep looking.

As for the TT, yes I have an electronic board to flip the polarity.  A very impressive piece, it works very well.
