The 2018 Big Book Catalog shows the Legacy and Vision Line locomotives as "Bluetooth Ready", and that they can be run using the Universal Remote.

Unless I am missing something, that means we can use the Universal Remote in place of the Legacy system and access many of the Legacy features.  Have I got that right??

And, if so, then does the gang think that signals a departure for Lionel from the Legacy System??

What features CAN be accessed using the Universal Remote??  And what additional features can be accessed using the App and a phone or computer??

Pretty sure the features for the remote and the app are as shown on the referenced pages 190-191.

Very limited compared to full Legacy.  The basics for the universal remote are just speed, horn/whistle, bell, couplers, and  some sounds I think via the shift button (I admit I am comparing what it does for a LC engine there - but the same buttons are there either way)

I would not consider that small subset "many" of the Legacy features.

I am sure Lionel will continue to sell Legacy bases and remote pairs at $400 vs. abandoning those and only offering the  $50 universal remote.
