Going back to my tinplate roots for a minute, Lionel did a model of the Evans Auto-Loader auto carrier. To accommodate the sharp curves, the car was compressed to a four-car carrier among other things. Fast-forward a few decades, K-line did one correctly (more or less) as a six-car carrier for New York Central (as I recall, the buyer of the cars). About a year ago I blundered across one and added it to my collection as the car is pretty unique. Upon inspection, it appears the car has odd mounting for the trucks. Has anyone 2-railed one of these?

I have never converted one of these. but maybe if you showed a photo of how the trucks are mounted, those of us who comprise the "Great Unwashed"  might come up with useful suggestions?

As a general comment, if the trucks are mounted with a single screw from the underside, I have found that you can use Intermountain trucks, with Intermountain wheelsets, and a nylon spacer to bring the car to the right height.  Des Plaines hobbies sells truck springs to go under the screw head that will be useful to give them some compliance

Thanks John. It looks like the trucks are mounted from the top on a pseudo bolster. I'm going to take the car apart for a closer look. I think the trucks are set up to add height to clear the 3-rail flanges. I'll post some photos when I take the car apart. I was looking to see if anyone had hit some roadblocks on the car as I don't want to butcher it in the process of converting it.
